[Arthur's watching her with wide eyes, watching her get worse and worse as they go on. He'd intended on going to a shop down the street, but he sees that won't do. He leads her quickly into a smaller shop nearby and stops her in the entry.

His fingers slide up, gentle and careful, and they extract the mask quickly from her face.] Sye...

[He has to swallow a lump in his throat. If he's right, he's feels like an asshole.] God, I'm an idiot. You don't just dislike the mask. Am I right?

[The first thing she does, the moment that mask is off her face, is take a deep breath. And then coughs, because she'd been breathing the miasma in the air, and it was finding a temporary home in her lungs. But still, she feels like she can breathe again.

And though her body language says she's relieved, better, feeling safer, she still tries to gloss over everything that she was just feeling. She's used to pushing aside her feelings to care for the comfort of others, emotionally, mentally, physically.]

No, it's fine. I'm fine.

[She's fine now.]

Syeira. [It's said a bit sharper, but it's immediately followed by him reaching out to take hold of her hand, hold it between both his own.] You don't have to hide things from me. My best friend hid things from me, when things were bad for her. And she died. I never even had a chance to know she was hurting.

[His voice is quiet, to keep the conversation between them, but it's said urgently. He doesn't share things like this. He doesn't. But, with Syeira, it's different.]

[Everyone's touching me so much lately. The thought flits across her mind, as he takes her hand again. Not offended, just observing. But she can't focus on it, because she's being scolded.

She sighs, meeting Arthur's eyes steadily. Determined.]

I'm not going to die from something being on my face, Arthur. I just can't breathe well with it on. Like I told you before.

[Most would leave it at this, a brush off and done. But Syeira needs to reassure, so her expression softens, she squeezes his hand gently.]

You don't have to fear for me.

[He's not convinced at all. But Arthur nods, squeezes her hand, and lets go. Because he knows, from Cobb, that you can't push people all the way. Sometimes, they just have to jump on their own.

He tries to put on a convincing smile, looking around.] I wonder if they have ties here. Or dresses...

[He looks back to her with a chuckle.] Tie for me, dress for you, I mean. Unless you want a tie, too. But I thought I'd try to convince you into a dress. I've never seen you in one, you know.

[To be fair, she doesn't really understand the discomfort. They don't have words like "claustrophobia" in Faerun. Those concepts don't exist yet, if they ever will. All she knows is she cannot breathe with the mask on her face, to the point she feels suffocated. With the mask off, she's better. So in essence, she wasn't lying, because she simply isn't aware of what the truth is.

Still, she's glad he let it go and is willing to move on. She wipes at her forehead with the back of her hand, and gamely puts on a smile. Though smaller than her usual.]

That would be because I haven't owned one since I was small. Skirts get in the way of climbing up ramparts.

Why...do you need ties? Your hair is very short.

[Look, it's an important question.]

[He looks over at her with a grin.] Different kind of tie. A necktie! They're very smart-looking in my time. I have one back on the Red fish that I can show you if they don't have any here.

And we are so getting you in a dress now.

Oh are we?

[She's not against it, really. She just hasn't really thought about buying clothing for a while.]

So...this neck-tie, is it like a necklace?

Definitely. Pants are great, but I'd love to put you in something soft and flowy. Something romantic and beautiful.

[He smiles, starting to lead her around, touching the clothing now and then.] Sort of. It's cloth tied in a knot and then it's hanging down. It looks pretty slick, in my opinion.

It looks...wet?

[This whole tie thing is so confusing.]

I don't know if I'm really suited for "romantic and beautiful". I seem to be more of the "rough and dirty" aesthetic.

[Arthur blinks a little before-] Oh! Slick? No, I meant like... sharp. Well-dressed. Very handsome in a cool, elegant way.

[Raising his eyebrows.] Really? I can see both sides.

[He picks something up, army green and stiff.] Ugh, this is ugly.
