first one to make that doctor who joke loses

Who: Everyone! All of you!
Broadcast: Maybe!
Action: Definitely!
When: Anytime during the toxic moon event!

[boy oh boy, isn't everyone just so excited to explore this... charming... place...?

this is a game-wide mingle and the timeframe isn't super-important, so throw in with whatever you want! play war games, go shopping for gas masks, get lost in the wilderness, hide up in the Iskaulit and refuse to set foot on the moon, anything goes.

here's the main event info post for reference! have fun!]

[Erik's coming out of the engine when Susan passes near the entrance, rolling down his sleeves after spending time in the hotter parts of the room. He comes to a halt when he sees Susan there - that dress, old-fashioned as it is, reminds him a lot of Adelina's.]

Hello. You must be the new one on the crew.
gentlearcher: (I Can Be Wrong... sometimes)

[The dress is certainly old fashioned, but her accent is pure U.K. circa 1940s. She manages a polite smile tinged with wryness.] Was it the confetti which gave me away?

[Ugh, it was everywhere. She's distracted from holding out her hand and introducing herself more thoroughly by noticing that it was actually on her hand. Honestly...]

[It's familiar, sparking old memories of a time in his life he will never forget. He does smile a bit at her gesture, having been through the unwelcome fanfare himself only a month ago.]

That, and the fact I haven't seen you around yet. Persistent, isn't it? I think I was still finding it in my hair hours after I arrived.

[And he had so much less of it. Alarmed, that hand goes to her hair to find... yes, more confetti. Ugh.]

I'd hardly think such a thing was necessary. [She shakes her head. Ugh. Then she offers a small smile.] I take it that's part of the Atroma's welcome to the ship?
grandstanding: (And I'm saying goodbye)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-04-06 10:06 am (UTC)(link)
It seems to be. That and the plate of chocolate... substance. [He hadn't bothered with that himself.] You'll get a far less annoying welcome from the actual people here, I imagine.
gentlearcher: (Hold Fast Hope)

[personal profile] gentlearcher 2016-04-08 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Welcome? Is that what this is for? [It seems charming, but wasteful -- mostly annoying, and she plucks another speck off her skirt. She glances back up at him.] And is this your ship?
grandstanding: (Never tear us apart)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-04-08 10:24 am (UTC)(link)
I assume so. And yes, it is, as well as yours now. This is the Heron. I'm Blade.

[He spreads a hand around, even though they're only standing in a corridor. It's not that exciting.] You'll get to know it fairly quickly.
gentlearcher: (Really? This Again?)

[personal profile] gentlearcher 2016-04-10 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
[Blade is a very peculiar name. A dangerous one. The sort Lucy would make up if they were playing pirates. She blinks and subconsciously shifts her weight to a more ready stance.]

My name is Susan. Thank you for the welcome.

It's a pleasure to meet you. Do you want to be shown the rest of the ship? You've already seen the bridge.
gentlearcher: (Queen)

If it's not too much of a bother? I'm afraid this whole -- level of technology leaves me out of my depth.

[She misses her bow. Not that it would do much good, but she misses it anyway.]
grandstanding: (I read your thesis and it sucked)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-04-11 10:41 am (UTC)(link)
It is a bit much - like something out of science fiction. I take it your world hasn't achieved space flight?

[As he talks, he gestures for her to follow, leading her down the corridor.]
gentlearcher: (Listening)

[personal profile] gentlearcher 2016-04-13 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
[She follows, taking note of... well, everything. It might not look like she's scanning about like a wild thing, because in something somewhat surprising for a girl who looks like her, Susan has a mile long stare, the kind of sniper's gaze that takes in everything without looking as though she's looking at anything in particular. He might notice it, though, in the tightly composed expression of her face... that or he could assume she was nervous and trying to hold it together. Both were true.]

Not hardly. Earth is in the middle of a war. Most countries are looking to their boarders, not to the stars.

[And Narnia. Well. Narnia was another story all together.]
grandstanding: (To end this way)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-04-14 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
[It's the kind of focus he appreciates in others, so he does take note that she's paying close attention. They enter the kitchen, a single-table galley style affair. Her comment about a war makes his forehead crease with a frown, but really, Earth is always at war.]

Unfortunate, but not terribly uncommon on Earth. [He's heard of a few different 'versions' by now. He isn't assuming they're from the same one.] The Earth I'm from is having one right now, too. [He manages to sound blase about it. The Vietnam war has mostly proceeded while he was locked away, and he never accordingly developed a personal opinion about it. Not beyond it symbolising the continuing hate and destruction humans cause, at least.]

[personal profile] gentlearcher 2016-05-01 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
I've heard there are many different Earths, and many different times. [She pauses at a window and stares out at the stars again. Her voice is quieter after that, almost as if she is speaking to herself.] Here, I can almost believe it.

It is like that. Where I'm from, it's 1973. I've gotten the impression this is further back than most others who come from a version of Earth.
