[boy oh boy, isn't everyone just so excited to explore this... charming... place...?

this is a game-wide mingle and the timeframe isn't super-important, so throw in with whatever you want! play war games, go shopping for gas masks, get lost in the wilderness, hide up in the Iskaulit and refuse to set foot on the moon, anything goes.

here's the main event info post for reference! have fun!]

how do i fix speeder - jon probably

[personal profile] nedstarksbastard 2016-04-04 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
[How'd Jon end up all the way out in this part of town?

There's a very long story behind that, but the shorter one is, he got himself lost dodging war games. It was fun the first few days, but getting roped into a game when you really just want to look for a very specific type of pastry can get old. So here Jon is, having managed to find himself near a race.

It's not the kind of race he's ever seen, that's for sure, and he wanders down to wherever they're fixing up these machines to maybe get some experience in when--well, something happens, and suddenly everyone's rushing somewhere. He's starting to move towards the source of all this commotion when someone calls out to him, and Jon turns to see--oh.

Oh, that thing's heavy, and that's just one man, so Jon turns on his heel and walks toward him. Thank the gods for his engineering augment, or he'd be stuck asking what a lift jack is and then they'd never get anywhere.]

You'd think someone would at least have stayed to help. [A nod to--well, Jon can't tell from here, as uncomfortably close as he is to the man, but whatever it is, it's drawing enough people that someone would have to push through a crowd just to figure out what's going on.] What happened there?
sandhate: (Default)

does he kno anythin'

[personal profile] sandhate 2016-04-10 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
[ he cranes his neck and tries to see between the people and the machines in between them. ]

Who know.[ he snorts ] I'd have a better idea if I could-- [ a grunts and an awkward shift backwards ] ...move, but it sounds like a spark flare. You probably have a better view.

[ he tries again to dislodge himself from the weight trap he got himself into. it could've went better, and he doesn't like asking for help that often but both his hands are squeezed in shut. luckily, someone remembered that this thing is heavy as a herd of banthas. now that someone is also someone in his way. ]

Ugh, I need more space to get out of this.
nedstarksbastard: (you with your words like knives)

studies say no

[personal profile] nedstarksbastard 2016-04-12 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
Not really, no. [For the sole reason that, despite being saddled with an engineering augment, Jon doesn't actually have any experience with spark flares and can't really tell what's wrong, at least from this distance. If he had a closer look, he thinks he might be able to figure something out.

Probably.

It's also just as likely that he'd make it worse.

Okay, the man wants more space? Jon's willing to oblige. He steps back to let him have room to move, and is silently thankful because that was way too close. Then he throws a glance over to the crowd and squints.]

But I think someone might have set fire to something. [Because that's--an alarming amount of smoke going up.]

[ there's a loud chorus of noise which sounds entirely too exciting for anakin to pass up. he jumps out of the way, awkwardly swinging his leg over and--

there's an audible clank of metal against metal. and his arm sparks, light up, in a way that no fleshy organic appendage should really do. he groans and curses something in huttese. ]

Hand me-- [ he pinches his nose. it just needs a good wack but the position he's in? not a chance that's going to happen. he reaches out for the wrench lying uselessly by a cart and it flies to his hand, which he then promptly gives to jon ] Just give my arm a good hard hit. Don't worry, it won't hurt me much.

[personal profile] nedstarksbastard 2016-04-26 09:33 am (UTC)(link)
[What in the hells--

Right. That's--That doesn't look good, and Jon's eyes grow wide for a moment when he sees that arm sparking. But the other man doesn't seem to mind it very much, seems more annoyed than anything, and Jon is just processing that when the wrench just flies into the the other man's hand.

Oh. Well. That's new.

He's learning all kinds of new things these days.]

I take it that trick wouldn't work if it was as heavy as that? [That referring to the two-hundred pound engine. But--well, there's a wrench, and the man's asking for a good hit to the arm that just lit up the way hands don't usually do. Jon eyes said arm with some wariness, but takes the wrench.]

This might be the first time someone's asked me to give them a good hit. [Not quite true. He thinks of the Halfhand, and the last task he laid on Jon's shoulders. He hefts the wrench a little, as if testing the weight, the balance, in sword-calloused fingers.] Has something like this happened to you before?

[ He balks at the idea. Not that it wasn't a good idea, Jon clearly has his head in the right place. But in the heat of an engine hangar and recovering from the lasting effects of being boring out of his mind on a ship, his priorities are ... skewered. ]

I just spent an hour on integrating a sub-cooling system to the haul so it can carry more heat. I'm not ripping it out now!

[ Maybe more than skewered ]

C'mon, just do it. It really isn't my first time being mag-locked. Or being hit. Or being hit to be out of a mag-lock.

[ He frowns and twists, pointing to the spot on his upper forearm that he wants Jon to hit. ] Hit me here. It's ... not my real arm, I won't be able to feel it. Trust me.
nedstarksbastard: with just one single blow (well you can take me down)

[personal profile] nedstarksbastard 2016-05-02 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
[He kind of understood that.]

I was wondering why you didn't try it earlier--what does a sub-cooling system have to do with it?

[A huff of breath. All right, Jon's still a little iffy on this, but he supposes that as long as the man says it's fine--]

Hold still. [He holds the wrench the way he'd hold the hilt of a sword, and swings as hard as he can towards the spot pointed out to him.]

[ With the solid hit, his arm budges just enough for him to yank and pull on it and pushing himself away from it with the Force. A few sparks flies out of his arm, and Anakin can only grit his teeth as a jolt runs through. As he said, it doesn't hurt but he is annoyed by it.

Anakin wraps his hand around his artifical wrist. His glove has torn, and two black and gold metal digits peaks through. ]

Ugh, finally!

[ He slaps a hand on Jon's shoulder and grins. ]

I appreciate your help.
nedstarksbastard: (got me feeling like a nothing)

[personal profile] nedstarksbastard 2016-05-09 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
[At least he's helped? But in contrast to Anakin's grin, Jon just gives a polite smile--it's barely even a smile, for how tight it is, especially once he's clapped on the shoulder. He tenses, just a bit, as if expecting a knife buried in the back, before he forces himself to relax.

The man's just being thankful, there's very little chance he even knows about the Night's Watch. There's no reason for Jon to be so wary of someone he just helped.]

You're welcome. [He glances back at the crowd.] Shall we see what's going on? [Because even if Jon can't see over the heads of some of the taller members of the crowd, he's pretty sure Anakin might.]

[ Night's Watch - they got your back. Literally.

Anakin flexes his wrists a few times while looking at the crowd before them. A stream of fire jets out and that's all it takes to convince him that he needs to see what's going on. Nevermind that his own arm is still tingling - it doesn't matter! There's a stream of fire shooting out! ]

Well, if that isn't an invitation I don't know what is. I hope you're not attached to your eyebrows.

[ He heads in the direction with Jon. There's nothing like bonding over potential eyebrow fires. Anakin pushes his way through, squeezing between big bodies and small ones alike. When he does get a glimpse of what's happening, behind two more walls of people, he just kind of laughs.

Why. ]

[And your front, and your throat, and--yeahhhhh.

Unlike Anakin, who evidently is looking to get his eyebrows singed right off, Jon happens to be attached to his eyebrows. And his hair. And various assorted body parts that he'd really rather not risk getting burned--not again, in the case of his sword hand. But the other man's already off, so Jon sighs and follows behind anyway, if only to satisfy his own curiosity as to what's going on.]

More than you seem to be. [This is muttered, not really meant to be heard, but any more dry remarks die on his tongue when he sees what, in fact, is going on.

For a second he just stands there, slightly stunned. Then--]

If he keeps charging at his enemy like that he's going to be skewered. [Never mind the part where their swords are on fire, he's going to be critical about their form.]

[personal profile] sandhate 2016-05-14 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
[ He tilts his head at first then he looks at Jon, vaguely approving of the assessment. ]

I don't think proper technique and form is the focus here. We are--

[ He does have to back away for a moment. The flames burst and it's suddenly way too close for comfort. Anakin takes a step back but keeps himself a shield between Jon and the idiot display before them. ]

We are talking about flaming swords. But you sound like you have some experience.
nedstarksbastard: (you have knocked me off my feet again)

[personal profile] nedstarksbastard 2016-05-14 11:17 am (UTC)(link)
[A scoff, even as he steps back from the display.] Just because their swords are on fire doesn't mean they can just swing them and hope for the best. [He points to the man who's defending himself, who's now moving to a more offensive position, his arms stretched out as he tries to rain his blows down on his opponent. Tries.] That sword is too long for him for him to get in close like that.

[Also their swords are on fire, which is going to ruin them anyway despite looking cool.]

Aye, I do.

[personal profile] sandhate 2016-05-16 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
[ He chuckles, his arms cross and he nods in agreement. Although... ] My point is - their swords are on fire, I highly doubt they're worried about form. This is more a less a display.

That man [ The one on defence ] has no business with a weapon. But he has a solid stance and his partner reads him well. Neither are going to hurt each other. Much.

[ He gives Jon a side-glance and a smirk ] Give him a break. They're just trying to get the people excited and entertained.
