[boy oh boy, isn't everyone just so excited to explore this... charming... place...?

this is a game-wide mingle and the timeframe isn't super-important, so throw in with whatever you want! play war games, go shopping for gas masks, get lost in the wilderness, hide up in the Iskaulit and refuse to set foot on the moon, anything goes.

here's the main event info post for reference! have fun!]

[ Kirk is grateful for the silence. He had not expected to get into a fight, and he enjoyed Obi-Wan's companionship. They had different ideologies, that much was apparent, though he could see some of Obi-Wan's points. Even so, he knew the consequences of coming to late - those shadows would haunt him forever, for the one he could not control, and then one he would always feel partially responsible for.

Doing the right thing would never be wrong to him. Would it always be easy? No. Doing the right thing was often the more difficult, and he knew, deep down, that what he saw as right might, in some cultures, not be so, and he would need to respect that despite his own feelings. But it seemed to him that the people here shared similar belief values and culture, and to him it was worth it to try. Could things go horribly wrong? Yes, of course they could, and he would bear that responsibility if things soured. But he would also bear the responsibility if he did nothing, and the people fell to a problem that might have been fixed.

It wasn't a black and white sort of thing. He knew that. And when it came to things like that he just had to do what he felt was right, what his gut told him was right. And this - helping, it felt right, and that was all he had to trust right now. It made him ache for Spock or Bones, to hear how those two saw things though he knew they would follow his decisions. Still, it would have been nice to hear their counsel. But he didn't have them, so he would have to do the best he could on his own.

He paused when he heard the branch crack off, turning to look back to Obi-Wan. He walked over, leaning in slightly to peer at the branch and the curious boils. ]

Symptom or adaptation, do you think?

I would know if I puncture the boil.

[ Even with wearing breathers, Obi-Wan is loathe to try it without a control environment. Something about it felt . . . off though. Was it the pollution? Or was something else happening, beneath the soil?

Obi-Wan briefly wished that he was more connected to the Living Force than the Unifying Force. Bad feelings don't come in handy when observing plant life. ]

Something is happening here. To this planet.

Maybe not here though.

[ A controlled environment. They had no idea what would come out of it, after all, and Kirk had no wish to see either himself or Obi-Wan contract some disease. He took out one of his bags and held it up and open. ]

Can you maneuver it in here?

[ The bag could be sealed, and he would double bag it after that, just in case. He eyed those boils again, something about them making him shiver. ]

Yeah, no kidding. I wouldn't call this natural by any stretch.

[ He nods, easily moving it into the bag with the Force. Still, it . . . trembles. Was it his own exhaustion? Perhaps he should have not come. Diving into that Philosopher's stone and hearing all those souls sapped his strength a lot more than he would have liked.

Exhale. Now is not the time for doubts. Trust in the Force.

With a swift move, he drops it, leaning against the trunk. Sweat trickled down his face into his beard. He quickly wiped it away. ]

No. I mean, something else is happening. Beneath the surface.

[ If Kirk saw the tremble, he did not mention it, merely sealed the bag and then slipped it into another before putting it into his pack with the utmost care. After, and despite their previous disagreement, he stepped forward and touching Obi-Wan's elbow. ]

Should we go back? You're not looking so good.

[ He would press on the other part once he was assured of the course of action Obi-Wan needed. The earth would keep a moment longer. ]

I'm all right.

[ He waves off his concern, straightening. Obi-Wan loathes showing any form of weakness. His posture is rigid and he seems more like a general than a monk. He inhales, cursing the respirator silently. ]

Just a little winded, that's all.

[ Kirk watches him carefully, but he nodded. Obi-Wan knew his own limits better than he did, but he made a mental note to keep an eye on it. He was no stranger to pushing limits - he did it plenty on his own and gave Bones regular fits because of it. ]

Let me know when you feel we need to go back. We're just exploring, this isn't a mission.

You'd be surprised how quickly that changes.

[ "Oh this is just an exploration of the world" goes badly is just as common in Star Wars. ]

[ Don't invite the bad exploration juju Obi-Wan. ]

Trust me, I would not be surprised. At all. I would show you the reports to prove it, but those are off in some other quadrant with my superiors.
