[They're in the middle of "battle" but he'll still take a second for the drama, since it's not an actual real battle and he's allergic to being too serious.]

[He snaps off a good shot on the guy who got Sorey, and then takes out a couple more, but then goes down himself, riddled with paintballs. He flops over near Sorey.]

I... tried... but we gave 'em hell, buddy... [Dramatic death gurgle.]

[Yeah it's fun to goof around like this when nobody's actually in danger of dying. Sorey 'painfully' rolls over and reaches out a fist toward Poe, trembling with all the drama of their unfortunate demises.]

Poe Dameron...I couldn't ask for a more noble friend in life...or in death. Blehhh. [Tongue out and everything.

They've both still got paint spatters all over them, but Sorey forks over his rifle to the guy who'd shoved it into his hands and turns to Poe eagerly.] That was great! We really worked well together! Wanna go get something to eat, Mr. Dameron?

[Poe hands his rifle over as well, and the paint-spattered goggles.]

Meat on a stick sounds like the furthest thing from protein plop on a plastic tray. Sign me up. [Military rations. Yikes. Hopefully it's not too expensive, though. He's new so he doesn't have much in the way of credits.

I'm a pilot, and I've been on a bunch of different bases for... years. It's all mess hall food or rations in the cockpit of an X-Wing. This real food thing... a guy could get used to it.

Does your ship have a pretty decent kitchen? I know a lot of them have these pastes and powders... [They head up to the barbecue stand and Sorey's already got his money out to pay for both their orders.]

That's what the kitchen on my ship is like. You can get stuff out of it that tastes okay. Definitely not any worse than what I'm used to. The dessert gelatin stuff is pretty good. [He might have been eating a lot of that.]

Thanks, man. [He gets whatever Sorey is getting. He doesn't recognize this kind of barbecue.]

Oh yeah, the sweet stuff isn't so bad. Hey! You should come over to the Huntress some time! My friend Mikleo is great with desserts. He's made some really good stuff out of what we have. [speaking of good stuff this bbq isn't bad]

Hey, I'd love to! Any excuse to fly the shuttles around. They're kind of slow, but there's still some fun in them.

[He tears into his own skewers. Pretty different from what he's used to, but tasty by his standards, so he's happy.]

Thanks! [He literally just walked up to the first place he saw that was making meat, but the gratitude is nice.] So are you the pilot of your ship, too? Or just back home?

I'm one of the pilots. My captain, Hera, also has that augment, so we kind of have to take turns. [And technically speaking, Hera wins when there's a disagreement, which doesn't feel entirely fair, but he does respect her a lot.] This is a lot easier than the flying back home, basically.

Ah- Hera's a captain now? That's great! [She seemed pretty solid in her knowledge and all.] Heh, you don't get bored, do you? Sharing duties like that. If you ever need something to do, I could use a hand with mechanics back on my own ship.

Not so far, but we've been here the whole time I've been in the fleet. But still... that sounds fun. I don't know much about mechanical stuff outside of emergency repairs on an X-wing, so I wouldn't mind learning.

Haha! Well uh, if it makes you feel any better, I didn't know anything about anything before showing up here. We don't have this kind of technology back home. I'm still doing a lot of trial and error! [Tosses his kabob stick into the trash.]

Oh, really? So far, everything here's pretty much what I'm used to--except with less droids. What's it like for you?

Nah, no engineers. A lot of security people though. I guess we're really well armed. It's... kind of weird. I don't think the personnel distribution is too good for this fleet.
