[ not long ago -- back home -- kate accompanied steve rogers and an older, even angrier version of logan to where the proper logan's body had been entombed. and the violence in that wolverine's eyes still haunts her (by times) when she looks at the man with whom she shares a ship. ]

Look, he took a sizable chunk out of a crew-mate. She was being an asshole -- no doubt. I'm worried she might actually be a psycho. But I'm also worried about him going around shredding people. I know how that sounds, too, but...

God, I'm telling this all backwards.

Having contingencies to control him would be good.

Truth is, he isn't just dead. Back home, not that long ago, I ran into a version of him that got stuck on our side of the dimensional curtain after some big stuff went down. An older, angrier version. Laura -- [ can she call her laura? she hopes so ] -- how do I know this Wolverine isn't gonna turn into that one at the drop of a hat?

[ perhaps that particular waver in her voice suggests this isn't the level-headed tactician talking. kate had those claws at her throat. she never wants to feel that again. ]

I know -- and I don't mean to say he is. Far from it. I mean he's Wolverine. It's hard to fault the brand recognition behind a name like that. [ however much kate might be naturally inclined to disagree with methods or philosophy, all she needs to do think back to every newscast that ever showed wolverine saving everyone's asses. all the avengers seem to be like that: saviours, except when they really weren't. clint included. ]

But part of it is me not knowing him well enough to know where that line is. For him, I mean. I don't know him like Clint knows him. Like you know him.

[ the question of did azula deserve it? is too tricky a thing to sort out. probably. maybe. only kate hadn't been aboard, back then. and she can't help but remember that it couldn't have been done in self-defense. whatever azula had done, it couldn't have really hurt logan...

...The girl in question's got an ego. And possibly something of a violent streak of her own. I think Logan thought he was teaching her a lesson. I can agree with the sentiment, but -- [ kate exhales. ] From the look of the bandages on her neck, it might've been a little overboard.
