Changing the software would require someone writing a program that could override the augment's encoding. And that's only if it behaves like traditional software. [he rubs at his face again, then shifts to prop his head on his chin, elbow on his knee. He's thinking about it]

As for the signal, we'd have to figure out what sort of signal is being transmitted. And then - figuring out exactly what the best method would be to block it.

Though honestly, before either of those can be seriously considered - does anyone know what the entire augment looks like?

Then maybe that's where we should start. Can't we get an x-ray of it? Surely something in the lab would allow that.

[the claws on his free hand start drumming against the floor, his brows furrowed] That . . . should be possible, yes. At the very least, it'd show us the size and where it connects to.

[a long, considering pause]

We might not need an x-ray machine. But - that's something I would have to look into first.

[ He considers prodding, but dismisses it. ]

All right. The more we know about it, the better.

[the corner of his mouth quirks up]

Of course. What we're thinking of doing certainly won't be easy.

Not that I needed an excuse to spend a day in the library, but I'll see what I can find there while I'm brushing up on a few things. [technology, medical advancements, that sort of thing]

I was looking up physics, for the most part.

I can't seem to find a year for where we are, but considering who I've spoken to, we're at least forty years behind, likely more. [he looks pained] No wonder so many people commented on how young we are.

You might like to look into particle physics.

Forty years? Hmm. That sounds about right.

[beathach]

I know a little about it, but I'd like to see how far it's come. [he'll add that to his ever-growing list]

Mmm. I can't really picture us forty years from now.

[axiomed]

I can . . . Granted, that must have changed.

[beathach]

I certainly hope it has. [he remembers everything Logan told them, what Logan told him. That isn't a future he wanted]

I believe it.

[Hank hums his agreement. Charles already knew Hank believed they would be successful, that it would change]

Was there anything else you wanted to discuss about the augments? Or - this place in general? I can't say I have much more to share that you weren't already there to hear.

No. We haven't been here long enough to absorb much else.

[beathach]

[he nods, and lets out a sigh as he leans back on his hands]

So you've already been to the library? I think I'm jealous.

[axiomed]

It's fairly easy to get to.

I know. [it was easy to get down here, so it only made sense] I just haven't made my way over there yet. I sort of got . . . preoccupied.

[reading, and figuring out just how much he could adjust the lab to make it more efficient]

That's understandable, Hank. Not to worry.

Let's get some of these back to the lab. We'll figure out our next course of action from there.

[beathach]

[he opens his mouth to answer, then pauses as he looks over what they've gathered. And thinks about what he's overheard.

Then he settles back and fixes Charles with a look]

Do you two need a moment alone first?

[axiomed]

[ A little sheepish. ]

If you don't mind.

[beathach]

[Hank shakes his head and pushes himself to his feet, straightening his clothes]

It was either offer now or I wait until you two stopped being subtle. [he's teasing, and he grins briefly at Charles before he turns to find his mask] I think I saw a bar across the way, so just send me a message when it's safe to come back.

[axiomed]

[ He laughs. ]

I'll be sure to drop you a note.

[beathach]

Please do.

[he faintly shakes his head in amusement as he heads towards the door, giving the two a wave before he slips out. Before the door closes, he pushes one last thought towards Charles:]

I might even see if there's anything you'd like there, if it ends up being a while. [he's not going to say "take your time with your partner", but he is offering them as much time as they want to take]
