[ He shakes his head. Charles is still too new to have a lot to share, and separated by ships means there's little he can glean with his telepathy. ]

I hear there's some kind of event coming up on the moon.

[grandstanding]

Hard not to, the way the locals are behaving about it. [The excited chattering about the upcoming party is, at least, a welcome change from talking about their precious war games. Erik laces his fingers together in his lap.]

It's a part of some sort. With costumes.

Like a masquerade ball. It might be worthwhile for the food.

[ There's little else Charles could do there. ]

[grandstanding]

[He shrugs, unconcerned. The food definitely has his interest, moreso than dancing and socialising. He can do the latter on his own time, and the former isn't that compelling. He knows Charles's thoughts on it, without having to ask. A faint smile plays around his lips.]

I'll go if you do. I have enough credits to waste some on nice clothes.

[axiomed]

[ Charles bats his eyes at Erik. ]

With an invitation like that, how could I refuse?

[grandstanding]

[Hank better watch himself, this hotel room is about to get too small for the three of them. Erik tips his head back slightly, watching Charles with some measure of intensity.]

You wouldn't.

[axiomed]

[ Hank will catch on. Probably. He lets his fingers travel over Erik's arm. ]

I couldn't.

So, what kind of nice clothes?

[grandstanding]

A suit, probably. It's been a while. [Many years, in fact.]

[axiomed]

Very descriptive, dear.

I wonder if they have anything in tweed.

[grandstanding]

[Erik raises an eyebrow.] Tweed. [You can take the professor out of the university...]

As long as you don't pick a tweed mask to match.

[ He chuckles at Erik's expression. ]

I would never wear tweed at an event anyway.

[grandstanding]

Well, that's a relief. [But his expression makes it clear that he wasn't concerned to begin with.] It won't be hard to find someone who'll tailor clothing, given the way the locals have been behaving.

Then we'll get outfitted some time soon.

[grandstanding]

[ And Hank has wisely exited the room. ]

[Which leaves Erik free to push himself up from his seat, and bear down on Charles in a much more intimate way. He would have done so even with Hank in the room. Still, he did assume the other would leave before anything got too... personal.]

Hmmm... you want to make sure you have the lengths correct?

I wouldn't want to make any mistakes. It is a lengthy process.

[ He cups the back of Erik's neck, gently pulling him closer for a kiss. ]

[grandstanding]

[A laugh rumbles deep in his throat as he kisses Charles back lightly, relaxing into his grip.]

[ He deepens it slowly. It feels so long, even though it's not. ]
