[ He nods. While talking about himself or even Erik is easy, talking about his former students - especially when he's unsure Alex is even alive at this point is far more difficult. ]

I'm starting to see that. To be honest, I've never met so many mutants.

Well, ya be from an earlier point in history than I am, [Remy knew that much from his last meet up with 'Xavier' in Luceti.] So 'less ya world had a big reveal earlier than mine, might be 'while before mutants are more outed. There be a lot of us 'bouts from what I understand, just most keep quiet if they can. Not that I blame them, know there certain parts back home I wouldn't go out without sunglasses on. Southern states ain't that good when it comes to people being 'different', especially in the more religious states. [Semi Catholic raised or not, Remy got more than his fair share of 'demon!' due to his eyes, even picking up one of his less complimentary nicknames from it; le diablo blanc.]

[ Some good came out of Erik's annoucement. Sort of. ]

[Remy raised a brow at that from behind his mask.] Got the limelight put on ya'll?

Sounds like it ain't been fun. [Then again the same could be said for his world, and Remy was a little ashamed of his indirect involvement in it. He had no clue his then boss was about to pull that stunt, that the team had just been a distraction for the X-Men and Brotherhood. Then again, even if he had known he couldn't had done much about it. Remy had not been prepared to go up against Magneto, it was far too dangerous without a lot of forward planning.]

Well, it never is for a mutant.

[ And it happens a lot, so. Charles shrugs. Problems were bound to happen. Prejudices will continue to occur. ]

It's how we act towards them that justify it.

'Them' bein' humans? [There was a shake of his head and a hint of a smirk below his mask, but it wasn't a happy one.] I'm all for not startin' a fight with them, but I ain't ready to get stepped on either, or worse.

I grew up in the South, mon ami, 'nd these, [Remy moved to unstrap his full face mask long enough so he could pull it off to show his eyes to Xavier, ignoring the bite of the air as it hit his nostrils.] Tend to upset some of the God fearin' folk or red neck bigots. Gotta learn to take care of yaself with people like that.

[ Charles doesn't flinch or act surprised. At this point, it's hard to be. ]

[Scrubbing his palm over his face to get the layer of sweat off that had built up from wearing the mask, and huffing out one last breath of air, Remy started putting the mask back on. He answered as he tightened the straps against his head again.] Best 'ntentions 'nd all that, but sometimes gotta send a message, dependin' on the crowd. Not talkin' big shows like my old boss, but takin' one guy out of a group down can send the others runnin' if they got 'ny brains. Try 'nd win the fight before it even starts.

[ Being completely pacifistic is fairly impossible, Charles knows. And he's done plenty of reprehensible things. Still, he tries to navigate to the best of his ability. ]

Ahh, ain't real 'mportant now 'nd here, at least from what 've found so far. Folk be real nice 'bout mutant 'nd all that on the ships, but guess there be a whole lot of worlds all mixed to one that we might be the least 'mpressive thing goin' on. Kinda weird to feel mundane at times. [After all, back home it was like wearing a neon sign over your head sometimes, the words 'MUTANT' spelled out for all to see. Even then it was part of his identity, for all his hardships he had gone through Remy loved his mutation. It was so handy, so practical... even if it was a little out of control at the moment.]

If ya don't mind me askin', how far ya gotten with teachin' others to handle their powers? [Maybe there wasn't a school yet from whenever this Xavier was from. Maybe there would never be a school, just because this was Charles Xavier didn't mean he would follow the same path as the man Remy knew of.]

A few years. The school closed down for a while but I plan on reopening it soon.

[Would it be too much too fast? Hell, Xavier was really just meeting Remy for the first time (as far as he knew), but the man's insights could be helpful. With Jean being one of the man's students, and how much she had helped him out in Luceti, going to the source could only be better, right? And it wasn't like Remy was worried about hiding what was going on with his mutation now... for the most. He didn't want to worry his crewmates, and he had gotten past telling it to the worse critic he could have; Rogue.]

Ya wouldn't be open to considerin' doin' something similar here, would ya? 've had a bit of shift in powers over the last few months, [No need for details on why that's happened just yet.] I was workin' with a fille who was a student of Xavier's back home, but she long gone for now. We made some progress, but wouldn't mind a chance to keep workin' on what we started.

It's been brought to my attention. I'd be happy to help out in any way I can. I'm not lacking in experience.

[ A little wry. ] After all, I trained Erik to use his powers.

[That made Remy's eyebrows go up behind his mask.] Ya trained Buckethead, uh, [Wait, not a good nickname in this case.] I mean, Magneto? [Was that any better? He wasn't sure.]

Color me surprised, then 'gain, kinda hard to think of him without control. [From Remy's experience with the man at least.]

[ Charles' lips twitch. He'll have to remember that one when Erik feels the need to don a helmet. Granted, that time has long passed them by. ]

We all had to start somewhere.

[ Charles' powers taught him the finesse of control, one he had relearned over and over. And he's sure he hasn't even tapped into all of his abilities. ]

Guess so, just never really questioned it when I worked for him. [Ok, now he was just trying to picture the Magneto he knew unsteady with his powers. It wasn't a great picture, although it certainly was funny.] Then again, he got a few more years on him in my world.

Either way, would appreciate 'ny help ya might be able to give, don't really wanna risk losin' control. It wouldn't be pretty for 'nyone 'round me.

Merci, [Remy offered, although... he supposed he should give Xavier a heads up with what he would be dealing with, in case the man decided to back out.] Thing be, my mutation, I thought I would hit a limit by now of how much energy I be puttin' out... but it hasn't hit it yet. Jean Grey 'nd I worked on some ways to burn it up so I don't go burnin' m'self or others, but it gettin' to a point 'm wonderin' if it's 'nough. [For all the show and flashiness of his powers, Remy wasn't much to talk in detail of them. He had an idea how they worked, what he could do, and that was fine, but to talk about a lack of control, or worse, how he got control, was a whole different thing. And here he was putting his trust in a man he hardly knew, in this world or his own. It was something that normally wouldn't sit right for him.] Really don't wanna make those jokes of me bein' a walkin' bomb come true.

[ Charles nods, his mind already working through his theories. ]

Kinetic energy often has some kind of drawback. Usually, my cases have to do with control, but in your case the solution would have to be very different.

[Control he had gotten, before Remy had gone and removed the limiter that had been put on him. In a way it still helped, he had years of practice behind him to help him from just going boom, but it all just wasn't enough.] We were able to work together for the idea of a semi constant shield, so 'm burnin' energy whenever 'm awake. It ain't the most elegant thing 'round, but it's doin' most of the work.

How often do you use your powers?

[ Because the body might need to adjust to that output if it has changed recently. ]

With the shield, whenever 'm not asleep. [There were other times as well, but no need to go into details on that. Considering the shield put out a lot of heat as well as burning energy it made it tough to maintain contact with someone for too long. Last thing Remy wanted to do was end up burning someone.] Usin' the powers how 'm use to before this all, not so much. The ships don't 'llow for throwin' explosive cards 'round, I just try and make the most of bein' outside whenever we land somewhere.

Perhaps what we need is something that can absorb the charge. Something you can keep on you at all times without it exploding due to the output.
