[A lot has gone on lately, many different conversations that in some form or another had Furiosa thinking about home. Even her experience ~~headbutting~~ helping Max took her back, and while she has been in the Fleet for some time now, the curiosity about the fate of those they left behind hasn't lessened. It's been unsaid, and she tries not to worry herself about it since there's nothing she can do, but she wonders. How would everyone fare? Who would take up in her stead? The Wives? The remaining Vuvalini? The past week has made it hard to forget about, so maybe if she indulges in dwelling in it]

[She opens a video, looking slightly worn after the debacle with Max's tooth and her own lingering concerns about home, but otherwise she seems to be doing well.]

Does anyone else wonder about the state of the homes we were pulled from? Anyone ... else ... feel like they're missing out on responsibilities?

You got a lot going on in your world?

You could say that. What about you? You mentioned responsibilities. Are you a leader?

[She has to pause. It certainly wasn't her intention, not from the start, not even from the Salt Flats, but she couldn't deny from the final moments before she arrived in the Fleet, she seemed to be the one people were looking up to.]

I was poised to be, I guess you could say.

Must have been a rude awakening coming here.

It was. I've had enough time to ease into disappointment, but it still stings that I'm not there for my people when they need me most.

[Things were complicated for Kitty and her world. Going back wasn't really an option, but she could still understand the sentiment. A part of her still wanted to be there despite knowing that just means being dead and not being able to help anything.]

How long have you been here?

A couple hundred days, at least. [Which didn't sound like much altogether, considering how long she'd suffered through adversity in her own world, but it's no small number, either.] And you?

Almost two months here. Almost a year in the prison before this.

So it's been a while since you've been home.

You too.

Practically feels like another life for me at this point.

[Furiosa goes silent. Kitty had a point, but sometimes - as long as she'd been here - it still felt like she'd just remind.]

Some things never really leave you, though.

No, some things never do. [Her past is still very much a part of her. Sometimes it feels like the nightmare she's trying to wake up from. Sometimes it's more tangible than that. But there are sharp divisions between happy childhood, freedom fighter in hellscape, inmate in multidimensional underwater prison dome, and here even if she lived them all.]

I never really stop missing the people. The ones worth missing at least.

I thin, that's part of the beauty of memory. They're still there, somewhere, if we continue to remember them, right?

[They had to be. At least, that's what she hopes, as she thinks back on her mother, and the other Vuvalini that were lost, and of Angharad.] Do you ever wish they'd show up here?

I guess that's true. [It also worries her sometimes. Every now and then when she thinks of her parents it feels like she can't see their faces as clearly as she used to. She didn't get to keep any reminders like photos. But in the prison she did get a video right before she came here. She didn't have it WITH her in the transfer, but she saw it recently and they're images are refreshed in her mind for now.]

All the time. I know that's not what people are supposed to say, but yeah. I do. You?

I wouldn't wish it, but ... I wouldn't be disappointed if they were to show up. [She has to be honest. Just the fact that she's been thinking about it so much lately hasn't helped, either.]

Good thing our wishes don't make things come true. We don't actually have to feel guilty if people do show up. [Not that it would always stop a person from feeling guilty.]

[Furiosa chuckles.] How true. That could get ... awkward. I guess for now we'll just have to wonder for now.

[A nod and slight smile.] So what was home like?

Harsh, broken. We hope to make it better place, but even with the tyrant and his brothers out of the way there's still bandits, a lack of resources, and the Wastelands themselves.

[Kitty can relate to a world like that.] How long has it been like that? [The word broken makes her think it was better once, but it could just be the hope for better talking.]

As long as I can remember. There are stories about what it used to be, remnants and scraps of society here and there, but nothing exists like it was.

[If you'd really like to know ask Max ~~don't ask Max that's a terrible idea~~]

I saw mine turn, but anyone born not long after would be in your position. [Like Charles.]

I'm sorry, that can't have been easy.

[She knows the pain of losing the Green Place, where she'd grown up, but she can't imagine watching a whole world fall to ruin. She's a little glad she's never had to, even if she's living in the aftermath.]

I doubt it's easy any way you go at it. But you play the hand you get, right? [Even people not from places that are the worst have their struggles, right?]
