[Y'all, Misty can't be the only one who hates this place, so let's all gather on the Iskaulit, safe from all that dark and rot down on the polluted moon and have ourselves a good time!

I didn't mean to yell. [And it wasn't at Kara so much as just...at the idea which, granted, was pretty impossible to distinguish.] And it's only been two days. You think that would be enough for you to adjust to an evil version of Winn? [She would have gone more apples to apples if she knew your enemies better.]

I don't know. I would probably stupidly give evil Winn like six chances to prove himself to me.

[ she takes a deep breath ]

Kitty, I'm sorry. I'm not trying to defend him over you. I'm just confused. He seems like, really really nice.

[She folds her arms across her chest and her head tips down.] I know. [It comes out softer because he did seem really nice. He seemed like someone she'd probably like and enjoy being around if he was anyone else. And it's not fair, but when is anything ever fair? Why does she have to follow a standard the universe has never played by?]

Can we start over?

[ she's also softening her tone ]

Sure. [Which isn't a lot of input. She doesn't know where to go from here.]

Or I can leave and we can come back to this at another time?

[ but make no mistake, they will talk about this regardless ]

It's fine, Kara. You want him on board, he's on board. [And she wants to back out and leave it at that, but she doesn't want Winn alone with him.]

No. I want you and Winn to work on it. It's too many cooks, I got it. That's not the issue here.

[ she huffs slightly ]

I won't get on your case if you want to talk about it, is all.

I've talked about it with Rogue and Erik and Charles and I just need to give it time. I already promised Erik I wouldn't hurt him.

[ she knows she shouldn't make it kitty's problem—she obviously has enough to deal with—but she can't help but feel put out that she doesn't rank ]

You're not intruding. I just don't know what I have left to say. [She did cover that he was indirectly responsible for her parents' death and the mutilation of others.] Is there something you want to know?

Maybe you can explain the situation to me again? I don't think I understand what the dynamics are.

[The idea of this makes her tired. She slumps down on a bench and brushes back her hair. Where does she even start? She can skip explaining the multiverse, right?] Erik, Charles, and McCoy are all from one reality. Kurt and I are from another. [The darkest timeline.] And then there are other X-Men from at least two other realities here. I know counterparts for almost all of them and generally those counterparts give me warm, fuzzy feelings. Except McCoy's who gives me dark, rage-y feelings because he's an actual evil mad scientist.

My brain is smarter than my feelings and knows all signs point to him being totally swell. The swellest. My feelings are dumb and stubborn and do what they want especially when they've only had two days to talk themselves down from it.

So, you mentioned Winn and me working with him and my feelings took over. Because I don't like the way I act around McCoy and I am too protective of Winn to want him alone with that guy even if he is totally the swellest of the swell.

[ no judgement, but that's supposed to be her job... ]

[She looks at Kara thoughtfully for a moment.] Did he...mention anything about me?

Of course it's not everything I heard. And really, I do appreciate you explaining that all to me. So, thank you. But I can tell you'd rather be in a room full of rats than continue talking about this... and I don't blame you.

So, yeah, Winn.

He said you guys have become friends? And he's excited to work on the project with you.

So many rats. [She really doesn't like the way she feels about the whole McCoy thing. She doesn't want to be the jerk of this story! So on to other stories where hopefully Kara was serious about not being into Winn or she's going to be the jerk again.]

Did he mention that I kissed him? [And is that okay?]

[ this is SO MUCH BETTER than whatever the other conversation was. she's super excited (probably covering up just a little possessiveness. she doesn't want to date Winn, and she's really happy for him, but feelings are complicated) ]

He did not! Which he will be hearing from me as soon as I get out of here. How did it go? Are you guys a thing?

Wow, that is a lot of questions. [It was two questions, Kitty.] Nothing blew up and I think we're still people?
