[Y'all, Misty can't be the only one who hates this place, so let's all gather on the Iskaulit, safe from all that dark and rot down on the polluted moon and have ourselves a good time!

I never paid much attention to 'em. Seems like a bunch of bullshit to me.

I know a few good ones. Unfortunately they're the backbone of the Republic.

[ And they, sort of, control the Jedi. ]

What does that make the Jedi then?

The Jedi aren't bound to the Republic. We're peacekeepers. Neutral.

[ He pauses. Because none of that is true anymore and it rankles. ] For the most part.

Neutral, huh? Well more power too you... being neutral ain't easy.

It never is.

[ He glances at her. ] What was it like for you? You had a . . . coven, correct?

[She frowns.]

I always thought once I found my people, I'd find myself, my real self, and that we'd all protect each other.

[She shakes her head.]

But it weren't like that at all, not with them.

. . . I'm sorry.

[ And it's sincere in its softness, his tone. Obi-Wan's place was with the Jedi, even as he continues to wrestle with new knowledge. He lost them once, when he was thirteen, thrust into a civil war. He had been alone then. Whatever connections he forged faded quickly because he had been a Jedi. And no one was willing to accept him. ]

Thanks. Some people here think I'm weird, that I don't want to go back but... if they'd seen what I have, they wouldn't want to either.

The world is what you make of it. And home should be where you want it to be.

Yeah... except we don't ever know when they're just gonna take it away from us do we?

No, we don't. But we can do our best to protect what we have.

[She nods.]

That's why I'm in here. Stefan's built something good and someone's gotta take care of it for him.

[ Gently. ]

I'm sure it'll still be here when he wakes up.

And if he doesn't... well, it'll be here then too.

[She offers him a small, uncertain smile.]

Still getting used to that word.

Then I'll just have to repeat it until you commit it to memory.

[ It isn't like him. Usually, it's just Obi-Wan, the Jedi. Alone. Even now, he feels the sting of it.

But in this . . . he could learn. ]

[Her smile grows.]

It's getting easier already.

I should hope so.

And what about you? Are you feelin' any better since last time?

Somewhat. I had time on my side.

[ The wounds are deeper, but Obi-Wan is excellent at repressing his feelings. ]

That's good. A little progress is better than none, right?

That depends on where that progress leads to.

[She frowns.]
