[Sometimes Joseph has to marvel and how he managed to end up with two people who will say one thing and then do the exact opposite. Of course, the way they go about it is still quite different from each other. She can walk on her own, but she's just going to make herself as comfortable as possible in his arms. Fortunately, Joseph at this point knows better than to listen to what Caesar or Suzie say and pay more attention to what they do. Caesar's all rough and bristling edges when he's playing hard to get while Suzie's girlish playfulness. One thing though that's the absolute same is how much they soak in the attention underneath their half-hearted attempts at protest though. That's what he pays attention to.]

[...Still. It wouldn't be Joseph if he didn't tease a little. He starts to dip down like he's going to set her down—he absolutely will not—with a sly grin underneath his mask.]

You sure? [he sing-songs.] I'm pretty sure I can walk faster. Plus, I know where we're going. But if you can walk on your own...

[Wait, what? Hold everything, no, wait, this isn't what she wanted at all, noooooooo she's descending OH NOOOOOOOOOOOO — and so naturally she holds on even tighter and more emphatically, wriggling a little against the possibility of being let go.]

No, no, I changed my mind! Jojo, I changed my mind, dooooooooooon't!

[She's, like, 75% sure he's teasing, of course, but that remaining 25% is prevalent, and a firm reminder of why it's always dangerous to gamble with a Joestar.]

[Joseph chuckles at the reaction with how quickly Suzie changes her mind. It's about what he would have predicted her to do. So, he straightens back out and holds her close with only the regret that he can't also kiss it better as well right now.]

Alright! Don't worry, I've got you. I promise your feet won't touch the ground until we get to the Caprine.

[And now she at least knows where Joseph's whisking her away to! In case the shuttle that he's stopping outside of wasn't a good indication that they weren't staying on the moon. Joseph gets the door on the shuttle open with a bump of his hip, already keeping true to his word that her feet won't touch the ground.]

[Once she's righted, she's even faster to settle in again, keeping reasonably still so as not to make it harder for Joseph to carry her by squirming around. Really, it's nice, in a fun and playful kind of way; the dashing around with Jojo close by is far preferable to anything she'd been doing on the moon's surface, even with the slight shame of being rudely whisked away from that one vendor guy factored in.

These masks really are terrible. She can't even nuzzle up for a pleasant mid-carry snuggle, with all this plastic and metal and glass in the way.

Once they're in the shuttle, though, things are familiar, albeit just a different kind of tedious. Trading the open air for the cramped quarters of the shuttle isn't much of a trade, even with all of the pollution outside.]

Mm, so that's where we're going! What's on the Caprine, hmm? Your captain's quarters?

[GET IT, SUZIE.]

[What?]

What?

[Yep. You will find not a single person out there with smoother moves than Joseph Joestar. Observe him in all his glory as he deftly handles this advance put forth by his girlfriend. Knocking this one out of the park, honestly.]

[What little is left of his dignity is mildly saved when it doesn't take him too terribly long to recover. Relatively speaking. There is a small, internal debate about the proposition. On the one hand, Joseph's trying to be responsible here and do what's best for his ship and his crew. But on the other hand, his girlfriend just propositioned him. This is far too much for his young, male brain. Joseph clears his throat.]

Well, that's certainly there.

[And currently empty since most of the crew has vacated to go stir up trouble on the moon. Joseph sits in the pilot's seat for the shuttle, letting Suzie occupy his lap with her legs over the arm of the chair. The door to the shuttle starts to close and the filtering system starts to kick in, so Joseph peels off his mask, tossing it into one of the spare chairs and fixes his hair. He's leaving the but hanging in the air because...]

[Because but his girlfriend just propositioned him. God, being a responsible adult sucks. Who wrote these rules? He demands a refund.]

That's not exactly what I had in mind though. [Dammiiiiiiit-uh.] Not right away.

[It is a Herculean effort not to laugh at him, or more specifically not at him but at least in his general vicinity. In fairness to him, she hadn't seriously expected that he'd interrupt her in her daily life just for something like that — or rather, only for something like that — but when the implications are there, who is she to not take the opportunity to make good use of them?

Eventually she'll have to take pity on him and let him actually explain whatever it was he had in mind. For the time being, their masks coming off means she's got an easy shot at his throat, and she makes quick use of it by ducking in to place a kiss against his Adam's apple.

After all, she's got to have her fun too, doesn't she?]

Oh, well. What did you have in mind, then?

[It is a perfectly innocent question that is probably not implying anything about knocking boots in the pilot's seat. It is but a simple question.]

I'm always happy to help out, Jojo...

[This woman is an unholy terror. Joseph was not prepared for this. Mostly because he didn't really take the time to think through how he was going to approach her in the first place because he really only got as far as get Suzie, so his awareness on what exactly he was inviting or implying is more or less an exemplar of the cliché that hindsight is 20/20. But he's still honestly never all that prepared for Suzie and is of the opinion that no one possibly could be. Which may or may not have anything or everything to do with why he like-liked her in the first place.]

[(Yes, that's right. Like-liked. He is an adult and adults can like-like each other. Heck off.)]

[But a simple question, his ass...]

[...What were they talking about again? Oh! Right! He's just gonna focus on...you know. Stuff. Like getting the shuttle up off the ground. Yeah, that's it! Responsible Jojo Mode Activated!! Or close to it. He does take a moment, however, to fix a few loose strands of Suzie's hair.]

You remember how I taught you some of the basics piloting these things?

[Ah, yes, the hair-fixing and subsequent semi-petting is highly well-received; she really gets tired of these stupid masks, and having the band sit on her head and the airtight seal against her face all day is a tedium made easier by the little things like this, the moments when she's free of them and there are fingers in her hair instead.]

Mmhmm! I remember. Oh, were you thinking of another lesson? Haha, you should've said something! I don't know when I'll ever have to use something like that, but it's better to know it and not need it than the other way around, sure!

[And she smiles up at him, eagerly.]

Not quite, [Joseph says with a crooked grin, and he starts to wonder if it's even occurred to her that she can teach others things, too. He kisses her temple and decides to see by not telling her directly just yet. He's also mysteriously not done with fixing her hair.] You know, the Caprine's out of engineers, right?

They are? Oh, that's too bad! Haha, you'll have to be a lot more careful, then, if you won't have somebody on board to help keep an eye on things like that!

[Give her a second, though — actually, maybe five seconds, since four will get eaten up with this hair-playing — while the wheels start turning. Suzie, I need you, and the Caprine doesn't have an engineer, and now the discussion of fixing things...

Hmmm.]

Jojo...

[H M M M M...]

...Did you break something and you want me to show you how to fix it before anybody else finds out?

What!?

[With the way he jolts at the question, you'd almost think he'd been caught red-handed doing exactly that and now he needs to come up with a quick cover story or consider coming clean, but with a twist. Like saying he was getting there and it's not such a big deal! Except that's not what's actually happened at all.]

Suzie, I would never do something like that! [Speaking of things that aren't true. Joseph shakes his head furtively.] I just think it might not be such a bad idea for me to know more than I do just in case!

Well, if you're sure!

[She smiles at him, though, in an attempt at reassurance.]

I can absolutely do that, though! I think that's very responsible, Jojo...

[And responsible captains deserve kisses. As do boyfriends.]

[And ladies and gentlemen, we're back to being a slight road hazard. Space hazard. The point is, he's still technically piloting and kissing at the same time, which is probably a bad idea, but it's fine. He's got this.]

Well, you know, being a captain now means I've got a lot of responsibilities. [So more kisses, right? He's gonna go for it either way.] Which means I gotta take care of my crew and the ship.
