It was my birthday on the first of the month, and normally I'd have celebrated it, but having my first birthday here and this planet having deadly air have made me want to come clean about something.

I think I might be dead back home.

I don't know for certain, and I never will know unless someone from back home shows up AND they're from further down my timeline. Which is looking less and less likely the longer I'm here.

I'm not asking anyone else to share if they're in the same boat if they don't want to, but I'm still figuring out how to process it, and like I said, it's been hitting me hard lately. So I had to get it out somewhere.

Me, either- there's nothing I can do to change it either way, you know? But it raises a lot of questions- like can Atroma bring someone back to life?

I don't know. it's been the biggest question of my life that I've been trying to ignore

I've heard of places that can bring people back to life if they're killed -there- but i don't know about... the other way around

Yeah, where I come from it's definitely impossible. It's just the stuff of science fiction- the dead are meant to stay dead.

So either you and I survived, or... Atroma has found a way to conquer death. Which just adds a whole other layer of "do not want".

Yeah. So there's always going to be some uncertainty.

I'm sorry that this opens up a door to stuff you don't like thinking about. Normally I'm able to brush it off pretty well, keep thinking I had to have survived, but it being my birthday made me think about my family, so down the rabbit hole I went.

It is. I've gotten more of a response than I thought I might have, actually.

I was going to get married back home, so I've got a fiancee. And a daughter, and my mom.

what're they like?

[He would offer his congrats on the fiancee thing, but he's not sure if that'd be taken well, since the guy's kind of stuck here while she's back home. Plus, if he's dead back there, there's a chance he might not even get to... yeah.]

Kate- my fiancee- is a cop. Probably the best in the city, though obviously I'm a bit biased there. She even got accepted to work as an FBI agent, which is a once in a lifetime chance.

My daughter Alexis... well, she's the best girl a dad could ask for. Her mom signed over custody when she was a baby, so I raised her on my own. We've always been close, though she's growing up too fast for my tastes.

And my mom's a theatre actress. Which should tell you pretty much everything you need to know about her.
