It was my birthday on the first of the month, and normally I'd have celebrated it, but having my first birthday here and this planet having deadly air have made me want to come clean about something.

I think I might be dead back home.

I don't know for certain, and I never will know unless someone from back home shows up AND they're from further down my timeline. Which is looking less and less likely the longer I'm here.

I'm not asking anyone else to share if they're in the same boat if they don't want to, but I'm still figuring out how to process it, and like I said, it's been hitting me hard lately. So I had to get it out somewhere.

[Misty's not much one for texting, especially not when the person's right here with her so not too soon after she sees Castle's text on the network, she'll come floating on in wherever he is (you choose!).]

Hey Castle... if you still need someone to talk to you about dyin' well... I reckon there ain't no better person than me.

[Castle was in the closet where the bots resided when they weren't cleaning- because taking care of them, changing their filters, cleaning THEM up a bit in return was something to do with his hands. He looked up as Misty entered, smiling sadly.]

... Now I can see why you don't want to go back home, huh? ...It'd be one thing if I knew for sure, but I don't. It's a question mark.

Yeah... Well, I don't know if I am officially dead. Normally I can tell these sorts of things but I guess the aliens don't want me knowing. Maybe that's better anyway.

[She squats down to meet Castle's gaze with that disconcerting stare of hers.]

I've died two times before but this time... I don't know if this time I would be able to bring myself back again.

[Castle nodded slowly, as though discussing this was the most normal thing in the world to him.]

And Atroma could have brought us back. I was wasting away from a disease back home, but I woke up here healthy as a horse. So that adds another lovely layer of ambiguity.

[Misty considers this.]

Maybe. I've done that before too. Maybe they're some sorta... alien witches.

[She reaches out and puts her hand on his chest, closing her eyes to concentrate.]

And they have the technology to do it. I mean- they have stuff like the augments. And teleportation. Who's to say they don't have medical technology, too?

[Castle was a little surprised at the touch, but he didn't pull away from it- she was obviously up to something.]

[It's a long, probably kind of weird minute before she pulls her hand away, opens her eyes, and speaks again.]

Your soul is whole, I can tell you that much. And it's good and strong, so you're gonna be okay.

[Which isn't to say he isn't dead, just if he is, he's going somewhere good.]

You can see my soul? That's... that's pretty cool! And it's good to know it's still all there. I'm not sure what I'd do if some of it was missing.

I'm not sure either. I've never had to put a soul back together again. I've only ever brought them back.

Man, hearing stuff like that makes me glad I don't have to worry about those kinds of things back home. I don't know how you handle it.

Sometimes I wish I didn't have this, that I was normal, but then, God gave me this gift for a reason. I truly believe that.
