[ The audio comes on sharply, but everything is still dark as two people discuss their situation.]

Is that the camera? Can you get it to work?

I am pushing it, Hank. I thought you knew about these from that show you keep watching. Space Trek?

It's Star Trek and that isn't exactly - you know, the same thing as this.

Right. . . . Wait, I think I see something on the side.

[ And the video flickers on, the red light glowing softly. It focuses on two men. One in a wheelchair and the other right next to him, peering curiously at the camera before they step back satisfied. ]

Well, that’s over and done with. Hello to anyone who might be out there. My name is Charles Xavier and this is Hank McCoy. Apparently we’ve been kidnapped again, by an unknown force again for some mysterious reason.

[muttered:] Again. [and louder] So if anyone would be kind enough to explain exactly what's going on, we'd appreciate it. You have our thanks in advance.

Mmm. [he pats Charles on the shoulder, squeezing briefly before letting go] I'd be surprised if you could, honestly.

[ He shrugs loosely, wheeling his chair towards the camera once more. ]

What can you make of this kind of technology.

[ah, yes, a decent if brief distraction. Hank shrugs a shoulder, peering at the camera]

Well, it's more advanced than what we're used to, but that's a bit obvious.

It's able to transmit a signal to the rest of the Fleet. I wonder if it shows to these mysterious viewers we're hearing around.

It's likely. [he's scowling at the camera before he can school his expression into something a little less annoyed] Especially if what everyone's saying about this being some manner of TV show is true.

[he stands up straight and takes another look around - this time, he looks up at the ceiling, to see if there's any other cameras watching them]

See anything?

[ Charles doesn't have Hank's gift of figuring out technology. ]

Nothing that stands out . . . [he crosses his arms with a frown, eyes briefly tracking to Charles and then back to their surroundings] For all I know, it could be hidden, though.

It would make sense. They'd want their show to keep running for as long as possible.

[ Somehow this makes him feel frustrated. Like rats in a cage. ]

Of course. [Charles isn't the only one who feels that way, albeit Hank is keeping a firm hold on it, lest he overwhelm the serum and . . . that would be bad] If I wasn't afraid of what would happen, I'd look a little more closely.

It's fine, Hank. You're doing the best you can.

[ And he takes him aside, briefly. Kitty's reaction hasn't been . . . positive. ] How are you holding up?

[ha ha . . . Hank hesitates for a moment, before he nods, taking a deep breath]

A little thrown off by . . . things, but I'm alright. [he's tired of towering over Charles, though, so he crouches down, bracing one hand on the arm of the chair] What about you?

I'm all right. It's a different routine, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

[ That's always the first thing to do. Adapt, learn and never hold onto it. ]

It seems we've caused a stir though.

[a little weakly]

That's a hell of an understatement, professor.

[ He squeezes his shoulder warmly. ]

You know that whatever they say isn't a reflection of you.

[he quirks a brief smile]

Mm, I know.

[ He eyes him carefully before pulling back, satisfied. ]

Well, for now, it seems we're stuck here until we're assigned a ship.

I'm told that it should be happening soon. We won't be waiting long.

[the change of topic is a big relief]

It'll give you the opportunity to run away from me and possibly have a brief impromptu vacation.

I already took a vacation.

[Charles please]

So you're not curious about these other alien planets nearby? I heard there's one right below.

It's a moon, actually. Polluted. We'd need masks if we go down to the surface.

[he raises both eyebrows at Charles] Don't tell me you're not curious either.

I would be lying if I said otherwise.

[ Still, he wonders if he'll manage getting around without a problem. Briefly, he misses being able to quest for a better wheelchair. ]

[he hums, faintly amused]

So we'll just have to figure out a way to get you down there.

[he isn't a mind reader, but like hell is he going if Charles can't]

I doubt they're wheelchair-friendly down there.

[ And he can't use his other form. ]

I could carry you.

[princess-style. He manages to keep a straight face]
