These masks continue to be a pain in the ass, huh?

But I guess the alternative is being laid up in bed sick — which I don't recommend, in case you're feeling brave, because seeing the people who took off their masks isn't inspiring any faith here. As for me, I'm needing a little break from travelling around down there in all that questionable toxin. Not exactly my cup of coffee, you know? Prefer more open roads, more green and, uh. An ocean I can smell and not go into coughing fits over.

Maybe I'll just spitball some stuff to pass the time while I question what I'm eating from these kitchens? I'm feeling nosy. Call it an acquired skill set, being nosy. Back in the other place I was trapped in, I mostly gathered information about our bestiary; monsters from all kinds of worlds would fall into the world with us, and I did my fair share of fighting some pretty rough creatures. Including the killer rabbits that would try to sabotage my garden. They're small, fast, and aim for the jugular, FYI.

Anyway, pick a number, any number —

I figure I'm being totally transparent, but I'm a big fan of information gathering. But it's also... actually really nice to be in one place long enough to get to know people. How often do you have the chance to learn about alternate universes? Small pluses.

Not quite, no. I've treated a lot of injuries, but I never received an education in medicine or anything like that. It pays to know about how the human body works, don't you think? To help avoid any injury or illness, or anything like that.

We have maesters in Westeros, and some of them know how to heal. Maester Luwin said he could teach me, but... [he died.] I never wanted to be a maester anyway.

Well... If you want, I can teach you all the first aid I know.

It's not much, but it can seriously save a life in a tough situation.

... Truly? [That interests him.] I could help people?

That's right. I mean, I'm not a medical doctor, but I can at least show you enough to help you get through any serious situations. Cleaning wounds or sewing them, knowing how to treat burns, how the body works and reacts to pain and blood loss; that kind of stuff.

I don't either. But I don't think you'll be useless; you're a smart kid.

You can learn whatever you put your mind to. And I wouldn't mind helping with that... When I was your age, my father taught me these things; I didn't like the job, but I did like knowing how to save people, if they got hurt real bad.
