Like how brave you're being here. I basically freaked out for a month about people figuring out I have powers.

[beathach]

Brave? [he repeats it with disbelief] I wouldn't call it that, but - I mean, I've done this before, sort of.

Remember the part where I'm reminding you to own the good things? I would call it that.

What was the other place like?

[beathach]

N-No, really, it's . . . more being exasperated by the whole thing, and - talking to a number of mutants and other people with powers right off the bat. [it helped he wasn't doing it alone, either]

But the other place was - kind of like here? Except it wasn't in space, and everyone was in varying states of amnesia.

Amnesia? Everyone?

[he nods]

Everyone. Our worlds were all destroyed, but a piece of our soul was recovered and brought to Kyriakos. We were placed on teams, and had to participate in competitions in order to win back pieces of our soul back - a memory, or a skill, or - something that couldn't be described as either.

When I first got there, I didn't remember anything specific, but had a . . . general knowledge of science? [he shrugs; he never did figure that out] But others would arrive with a memory.

What kinds of competitions?

Most of them could be called puzzles of some kind. Or we would be given some kind of task we'd have to complete as a team or by ourselves.

Others were . . . less pleasant than that.

Oh.

It's just kind of a hard concept to wrap my head around. Having to win back parts of your soul.

[beathach]

[he quirks a smile]

It sounds unbelievable, doesn't it?

I'm not saying I don't believe you. It's just really... really difficult to conceptualize.

No, I know what you mean.

So, did you remember everything?

[beathach]

Eventually. [he nods] And - I was only there for three months, but it certainly felt a lot longer than that.

I've already noticed time.... doing stuff here. It either feels like forever or like it's going really quickly.

[beathach]

That's what it felt like, pretty much. [he huffs out a sigh] It doesn't make sense, but I've stopped trying to make sense of things like that anymore. Otherwise I'll give myself a headache.

I understand that.

It must be somewhat disappointing to find yourself here instead of at home.

We had a month? [look at that optimism]

But . . . mm, it was disappointing. [he makes a face] I'm starting to wonder if Charles and Erik are some sort of - magnet for this, and somehow I was pulled in with it. This is their third time.

Third? Really? Lucky you, huh...

Let's hope I don't hit my third time any time soon - or at all, for that matter.
