[ The video flickers on to Leto sitting on his bed, kicking his legs briefly. He grins when the video starts recording, pushing himself onto his feet. He tilts his head, that odd bird-like movement he often exhibits. ]

I have heard some interesting things of late, so I thought I'd put the question to you all. When you fall in love, can you only love one person? Can you fall in love with multiple people? Is love something you find yourself stopping after just one?

[ Hm. His brow creases as he considers this. ]

My aunt tried to kill me once. I have had people poison me, attempt to break me. They were all desperate people. Lost and alone.

I am not. Why not forgive them? Why burden them with my hate as well? It does not merit me or them.

Then you are a more open person than I am, I'm afraid. There are some things that can't be forgiven.

[She wouldn't forgive the Lannisters, for a start - but she's a little more open to Tyrion.]

[ He shrugs loosely. ]

It is your decision.

I assure you there are circumstances that made the decision for me. I use it as a reminder.

[To be careful of who her enemies are. To never forget that she could just as easily die as her family had.]

Circumstances make everyone. But our decisions are still our own.

And if I choose vengeance? Does that make you feel sorry for me?

[Because honestly she feels like that no one should feel sorry for her. She would do whatever it took to take back what was hers, no matter the consequences. She wasn't afraid to do what she had to because to her it was right. To her, saving hundreds from tyrany that was the Lannisters and avenging her family in the same breath were justified. Who was she without it?

Just a girl, longing for a lemon tree and a house with a red door.]

No. But I would grieve for what could have been.

[ For all the Great Houses, there were lines they did not cross. The clamouring for the throne was never as intense as it was in Westeros. The fear of Spice keeps them in line. And it had probably saved them from descending into anarchy. ]

I grieve for it as well. But, while I speak of vengeance, I am still capable of feeling love and understanding what it is. That was your original question - to be able to love more than one person. I think people are capable of love just as much as they hate. I have laid with other men and felt strongly for them, but there has only ever been one person I truly loved and he is lost to me.

[She may be opening herself up to more questions and perhaps his pity, but she did not feel sad to speak of Drogo. They rode the Nightlands in her dreams. The stars were their Khalesaar and their son rode with them in her arms.]

[ He nods. ]

It is important to feel all things. And to keep living.

What about you? Have you ever loved a person so deeply that you become a better person for it?

[With Drogo she had found a home. He had made her into a Queen. Gone was the meek girl that had accepted the cruelty of others in fear.]

I have loved many people strongly. Deeply. I do not know if they have changed me. I simply know that their love for me . . . saves me.

[ Even with Ghanima, none of them really changed in their love for each other. ]

Then you should feel lucky, as so few are able to experience something like that.

[She would wait until the sun rose in the west and set in the east, until the mountains blew in the wind like leaves... then she would have her Sun and Stars again. Then she would feel safe again.]

I left my heart open.

[ And for all the pain that it brings, Leto does not regret it. ]

I can't afford such a luxury. Where I am from there are too many counting on me - too many who have been wronged by those who would profit in hurting them. An open heart for a Queen is like to get ripped from her chest.

[Which is why she chose to marry H'zdar instead of Daario. It is why she chose to do the things she's done - burning cities and murdering slavers. These things would protect her people.]

And when it is over? Will you be able to open it again?

When what is over? My people won't stop needing me.

Your needs are important as well for a successful reign.

[ Denying them has never necessarily spelled out peace. ]

I assure you, my needs were well met - unless you are volunteering?

[Yeah, she's being sassy. He's getting a little close there, if you ask her.]

[ Though he smiles, his eyes twinkling, blue on blue. ] Though I imagine it would be a lovely night. A moment in time when needs are met. So you can remember it well.

[That sounded a bit like a challenge? Though surely not. He wouldn't be that forward, would he? Then again she started it.]

But that would defeat the purpose, wouldn't it? You ask questions of love. I don't imagine you would do things with someone you don't care for, let alone know very well.

How do you know I would not care for you?

[ As for how well -- he'll leave out the part about his prescience for now. ]

[Well that certainly catches her off guard and she gives a short laugh, eyebrows raised and clearly surprised.]

You make a lot of assumptions, don't you? We've only barely spoken.

[Though she is flattered and... maybe a little flustered. Seven Hells.]

That does not preclude a chance of caring that might arise.

[ Though Leto rarely needs anything to care. He always cares, he's meant to care and that was his profound weakness that he holds out for people to see. ]

[Welp. She... really isn't sure what to say? Good job Dany, getting yourself caught in a bluff. Sure it's all fine and good to joke about him volunteering to "meet your needs" but-???

Is this man playing with her? She has no way of knowing.]

So you want me to believe that you care for me. Prove it then.

[Since he's pretty much calling her on her bluff... may as well call him on his? Or what she assumes is a bluff. He barely knows her and he's awfully magnanimous. She's half convinced he's trying to make fun of her.]

No. I want to believe that caring can happen if you're willing to let it. I can care. I do care and if you like, I can prove it.

But will it matter?
