[ The video flickers on to Leto sitting on his bed, kicking his legs briefly. He grins when the video starts recording, pushing himself onto his feet. He tilts his head, that odd bird-like movement he often exhibits. ]

I have heard some interesting things of late, so I thought I'd put the question to you all. When you fall in love, can you only love one person? Can you fall in love with multiple people? Is love something you find yourself stopping after just one?

But that doesn't mean it should be held against you.

[ He lets that lie. ]

Enlighten me then. What did you do?

I slept with my best friend's enemy...for months. He was pretty forgiving or at least nonjudgmental about it at the time, and I made up reasons for why it was okay. But it wasn't.

There's a version of my friend here. Allen. ...I told him. He said all the things I knew he had a right to say, but never had.

But you told him and you stepped forward. It was not okay, but you acknowledged it and confessed to it.

The past is a part of you, but it doesn't fully define you.

[She nods, knowing that all of that is true even if she wasn't ready to put it so succinctly.] I want to make it right with Allen. Even if he's not really the one I would have hurt. [She got plenty hurt in the process herself.] Not that I have any idea how to do that.

[ He mulls it over. ]

Give it some time and then talk to him again, see how he feels. So long as the attempt is made, you can meet each other half way.

[The looks thoughtful a moment before nodding. That probably is better than her trying to meet him 100% of the way. That's not a health relationship either.] Hey... [Looking up at him again.] That was a practical and helpful answer. [Who are you and what have you done with Leto? Twice in one conversation. She even manages a soft smile for him.]

[ He acknowledges it lightly. ]

I do have a lot of experience in these areas.

In disappointing friends? [You mean something else, right? She doesn't sound like she thinks she nailed the answer.]

[ Bemused. ]

In giving good advice.

Oh, that. [Smiling at him.] Thanks.

[She reaches out to put her hand on his. She's a very tactile person even if she doesn't always give herself the permission to reach out the way she wants.]

[ He blinks. He can never stem the surprise of people initiating physical contact with him. But he manages a soft smile. ]

You're welcome.

[She gives his hand a squeeze before removing it slowly.] I guess we should try some of this tea I've been hearing about.

I find it rather calming.

[ He pours two cups and hands one to her. ]

[She takes it with a soft smile.] Calm sounds good. Do you get uncalm much? [Yes, she's going with "uncalm".]

Sometimes. It's important to keep my emotions level.

[ He can't afford to agitate the Worm. Or give any kind of leeway or the ghosts in his mind might take over. ]

Is that because of your powers? Some mutants have powers that feed off their emotions so they have to be careful.

No, my powers have nothing to do with my emotions. I'm linked to the sandworm.

[ He taps his wormskin. ] And he is prone to violence if his emotions are roused.

Can he take over then? [Because that seems bad.]

He cannot.

[ There are other things that can ]

At least, not for long periods of time.

Short periods of violence or is the violence against you? [She's a little worried for you, Leto.]

[ He shakes his head, his eyes gentle. ]

The Worm can possess me. At the most, our angers can kindle together. Since he is essentially a wild animal, he can lash out to disastrous effect.

Leto... I didn't know. [Of course she didn't.] How do you... Are you okay? [That sounds like a hard thing to live with. She already got that impression from the first time he spoke of the worm, but with less clarity of what it meant.]

[ He blinks, vaguely surprised by her concern. ]

Of course. I'm not easily conquered.
