[ The video flickers on to Leto sitting on his bed, kicking his legs briefly. He grins when the video starts recording, pushing himself onto his feet. He tilts his head, that odd bird-like movement he often exhibits. ]

I have heard some interesting things of late, so I thought I'd put the question to you all. When you fall in love, can you only love one person? Can you fall in love with multiple people? Is love something you find yourself stopping after just one?

It is the subject of a lot of discussions. And art. Sometimes even wars. It's a pretty broad subject.

But I guess with just romantic love...I've never been there, but I hear it's almost just as awful as it is great. Lots and lots of poets talking about it being excruciating and like an obsession and stuff. It seems very dramatic.

It's certainly varied. Though I will not deny that element of dramatics that exists within that kind of pairing, so to speak.

Do you think the dramatics are intrinsic? I wonder if there are many people who've been in long-lasting relationships that we could ask... ['we' now he's very invested all of a sudden]

To some extent. Though I imagine we might need to word it better than I have.

[ People probably won't take kindly to being told they're dramatically in love. ]

It may also depend on how new it is. Age can often temper relationships.

As people get used to each other, huh?

Still though, people who've been together all their lives can still fight. I fight with my best friend, and we were raised together from birth. It can get dramatic sometimes.

It still depends on the person. Strength is a variable, after all, and everyone has had different experiences.

Strength of heart, you mean? It feels a little unfair to make that a quantifiable variable, though. That's like saying if you're weak-hearted, you're more unlikely to have a fulfilling relationship.

Not heart. More akin to strength in a relationship. As I said, not everyone would take kindly to such a personal query.

You sound like you've been around for a while. Or at least you know a lot about this topic. Is romantic studies a thing?

There are stars that are younger than me.

[ He chuckles lightly at the idea of romantic studies. ] In a way! I hold every experience of romance in me. Every ancestor's life and memories are mine to peruse. I have felt love the way they are. In all its terrible and magnificent glory.

Oh- nothing! I'm just- you're not the only person I've met who's seen so many civilizations come and go, and I just really- I think it's awesome! To have a front seat to history like that. It's incredible.

[ Leto isn't sure what to say here. No one has ever said that before. And rightly so, because having that much history, that much human in one has relegated him far away from humanity. He barely has the social skills to pass as one.

I suppose it is, from an outside point of view.

Is it something bad, for you? [Which is......baffling honestly, but not something he should dismiss.]

Bad is too limited a word. I would say that it is not necessarily healthy to have your entire history living in your head.

Oh...I'm very sorry, I didn't think. I'd just assumed- well, I'd thought it would just be like having a library at your fingertips.

I would say it's more akin to being in a building and everyone is shouting at you.

It was, especially when I was younger. I was born remembering my past.

Sorry, I'm- I'm trying to understand. You were born remembering your past? Or um, humanity's past? You could understand that even as a newborn?

I could. We're known as pre-born. People who remember everything from the womb. No one taught me anything. I knew it all before I could even walk.

That's incredible. -er, but it does also sound very confusing. Do you mind talking about it? I'd love to hear more but I don't want to pry.

[ Hm. Leto isn't sure what to say. Nobody talks about the pre-born, unless it is to hurl insults. ]

Well, how this sort of thing happens. Is everyone born with their history? Do you have any need for storytellers or libraries or archives if everybody remembers everything?
