[The video starts in on Hiro, who is reclined as far as the console chair will go. His feet are likely somewhere they should not be, holding him in the position. The comm is on top of his knees, recording him playing with an ostrich bobblehead.

[After a moment, he grins at the comm, and begins his little speech.]

Good--[a quick glance at the console]--afternoon, space cadets. Engineer Hiro Hamada, reporting for duty on the SS Bishop.

Gotta say, I'm not exactly thrilled to be here, but hey. I don't get a choice, right?

[He takes in a deep breath, looking around the deck of the ship. He lets his cheeks puff up with the air, slowly deflating as his lungs empty.]

I hope the crew here doesn't mind some remodeling. This place could use some work.

You know, I'm hearing that that's a problem, and I'm gonna look into it as soon as I can get the tools. We shouldn't be forced to take cold showers.

Great! What about grow lights? For plants, I mean?

[Look, Hange, you unleashed the processor.]

I'd have to make them compact, there's not a lot of room, but... maybe it's something all the ships could work together on. Each ship is in charge of a specific group of produce. That way we can have each ship have a set of crops that grows in a certain climate.

I'm thinking vertical growing... racks. Farming isn't my expertise! But we can do fruit and vegetable growing on a small scale. I'm not sure if it's more practical to have a variety of plants on each ship, actually, or just one kind - it might be easier to have just one kind per ship, less time spent learning to tend to a variety of plants that way.

That said, first I want to get the plans drawn up and decide whether it's pragmatic in the first place. Then grow lights to encourage the plants to keep going! It'll be good for morale to have green things around.

Well, a lot of plants grow best in different seasons. We're gonna have to generate a specific climate for each seasonal group, so different groups for different ships is our best bet, since they're small.

You've really been thinking this out, haven't you? You're a scientist, right?
