[ said somewhat distractedly, as he tries to work out if all he needs to get kara's powers back is just -- more fluorescents. ]

Yes, hydroponics are viable to an extent. The Iskaulit has a fair crop of lettuce grown that way, I believe. It's the seeds or sprouts that are more difficult to find in general.
[He actually has a terrarium in his room with some tainted air and soil and water for plants from this room, but he prefers to keep them separate from not only the other plants but from the ship at large. The last thing anyone needs is Officer Snuggles to get sick from the wrong kind of snack.]

There's always a trick to it. Well, I wanted to pass the message along anyway. Apparently, she's from a world where fathers, husbands, or brothers usually arrange meetings, so she hasn't adjusted for that entirely.

Really? She seemed pretty adjusted to me - [ she pretty much insisted they meet in person. had he resisted, he suspects she wouldn't be above bullying him if it was something she really wanted. ]

Thank you, then. I'll see what I can do.
no subject
Sure. If there's anything I can do to help let me know? A little more color around here wouldn't hurt. And I'm all for knowing how everything works.

[Finding cheese and tomato sauce might be a challenge, but what's life without a challenge?]

But thank you. [Her captain, always so thoughtful and generous.]

You mean there's something you can't do?

Sorry, I don't understand that sentence when it's not coming out of my mouth.

You two should get to know each other better while I eat [quieter] your food. Pretend I'm not here.
no subject
That'd just spark an existential debate on whether or not I'm here.
[ but he does as she asks and turns to vision because this guy seems pretty fascinating just from the little bits he's getting. ]
So, you're an Avenger? Ever work with Kate? [ she told them there are hundreds of them, and he knows there are alternate dimensions, but it feels like a pretty basic and natural place to start at, and a much safer one than powers and most other questions that pop into his head. ]
