Alright. He's an astronaut- er, he studies space for a living. He's also the captain of the Vanquish. It's been about....eight or nine months now?

Oh, so he knows all about how these ships work? [Fascinating! Someone who actually knows what all of this space nonsense does?] That's a good amount of time to be together. And clearly things are going well if it's been that long. How did it start?

Ah-well, it was a bit of a blind date. My best friend really wanted to get me dating again. So she set me up on a few dates and- well, Clay and I really hit it off! [...Yeah! A surprisingly normal story coming from an anime-looking dude]

Ino. She's the captain of the Three Twins- she visits sometimes. You haven't met her yet?

I guess I need to get better at introducing people.

I may have seen her, but no, I don't think we've met. Feel free to practice your introductions on me.

I will. You'd like Ino. Clay too. They're really good people. I'm lucky to have them.

[He offers her a kind smile] Though I'm also lucky to know this crew too.

I'm looking forward to meeting them, then. [She always likes meeting new people. One never knows what they'll found out when they talk to a stranger.]

As am I. I'm not sure how I would have fared without all of you here, especially in the beginning.

Ah, you weren't so bad when you got here. When I first got here? I was fashioning every usable object I could find to be a weapon and stashing them all over the place, just in case.

[And now he just has more weapons in his bedroom than possibly the armory! Progress!!]

The last time I was on a ship like this, it...ended very badly. So I was worried it'd happen again.

You were on a space ship before?

Once or twice, yes.

[He offers a shrug and half smile]

I've had an eventful life.

Clearly. I've seen and done some odd things but even I can't claim that. How does your current time on a ship compare against your previous ones?

How does it compare to last time?

[That's a loaded question.]

Well...no one's gone mad or try to murder anyone so....it's been a lot better.

Maker's breath, are you serious? People were killing each other?

Something went wrong with its warp core. It got connected to...some sort of hell dimension, from what I understand. The crew started...hallucinating things, terrible things. It wasn't long before they started losing their minds, stopped being able to tell what was real and what wasn't. Some became nearly catatonic with fright, while others...

[He swallows, glancing down at his hands that were wringing each other]

Within three days, nine people were dead. Many more were injured, caused by accidents, self-infliction or other crewmembers.

[Her hand covers one of his, giving it a squeeze.]

Forgive me, I didn't mean to make you go back to that time.
