It's supposed to be an Earth tradition--I would think the future has it too.

[She laughs a little at Dr. Crusher's instant assumption that there must be some disastrous reason for their visiting her, and she holds up the dino planter by way of demonstration.]

Yeah, I found one of those dinosaurs you told me about--it's got this big leafy growth in its back.

[Stefan shakes his head, stifling a laugh at the assumption. Him, hurt? That's a new one.]

Happy Mother's Day, Doc. [He then proudly holds up his box!] We brought some ma'amoul too.

[Oh. Her eyes start watering up. With happy tears though! Never fear kids, she's smiling and her heart is swelling with love for both of them. Not wanting to squish their presents with hugs, she instead comes over, gently takes each of their faces in turn, and kisses them on the forehead. Then she steps back, one hand Vima's shoulder, one hand on Stefan's, as she gazes at them.]

Thank you both.

[She smiles again and gives their shoulders a squeeze.]

This is very, very sweet of you.

[Vima smiles brightly, thrilled that their Mother's Day surprise has gone over so well. She uses her free arm to give Dr. Crusher a quick hug.]

Don't worry about it. [the smile softens.] You've been such a good friend to me over the past year. And to everyone else you know, too. You helped me not miss my mom as much--just seemed right to mark the occasion.

[It's been a long time since someone else initiated forehead kisses. Stefan blinks back surprise before returning that genuine smile. Oh, good.]

This was also the least we could do. [He goes for a one-armed hug, careful to keep it light.] Seriously, Doc - you're the best auntie we could've asked for.

[Auntie. She likes that: it helps alleviate some of the worry she has about overstepping her bounds in regards to Nomi. Besides, she never has had the opportunity to be an aunt, as she never had a family big enough for that, so it's nice in that way too.

She wipes at her eyes and lets out a small laugh.]

You two are going to make me cry.

[Vima giggles and steps back to let Dr. Crusher wipe her eyes.]

I must've miscalculated if that's what you're doing. [She sets down the dinosaur on the nearest flat surface.] Anyway, it's only the truth. [She glances at Stefan.] I don't have any proper aunts and uncles, but if you're what they're like, I've definitely missed out.

In a good way, I hope.

[He glances back at Vima - right. Stefan's had more than his share of "uncles" and "aunties," people who weren't related to him by blood but given the title to begin with. It's a title he doesn't bestow lightly, and well, it fits.]

If you're okay with that... of thinking of us as nephew and niece... then well, Aunt Beverly, I'd like to keep calling you that.

[dancingmd]

[She gives a soft laugh.]

A very good way, yes. Much better than last year.

[She looks at Vima.]

I have never had any proper nieces and nephews either so [Then back at Stfan] I would be honored to call you mine.

[Vima smiles ear to ear. She started off missing family and found more about as far away from home as you can get. Even if she's unhappy about the situation, overall, being kidnapped and made into entertainment--she can't be that unhappy about this.]

We're a proper little Fleet family. [She laughs.] Watch, it'll be a big rating bump. Aunt Bev.

The best little Fleet family. [He instinctively reaches out to take Vima's hand and squeeze it.] I'm glad to hear that. Really. We'll get those sponsored t-shirts and everything.

[Beverly can’t help but make a little bit of a face at the mention of ratings. Something like this, something as meaningful as this, should not be a source of entertainment for an audience.]

I think I can live without the t-shirts, but I’ll take you both as family any day.
