[He'd been a little worried when Allen had eaten so slowly, since that's not the way he usually eats. Was that too much? He could point out which omelettes didn't have the meat, that'd probably be better. Sausage was very flavorful anyway, so maybe it was too much.

But then Allen takes a second bite, then a third, and then more, until he's eating at his usual pace, and those happy sounds that Clay had been listening for can be heard again. He gives a big smile in return, feeling a sense of pride not only in himself, but in Allen. He isn't sure what made him decide to go vegetarian in the first place, what caused him to associate fear with eating meat, but he dared to step past it, and now he's eating it just like any other food.

He's so proud of him, and touched, too. That Allen trusted Clay to help be his first step into letting that fear go, that he gets to be part of this. He sips his coffee - just the way he likes it, but he can't help watching Allen eat up, too. Another good meal served.]
