I knew I should have looked up 'reality shows' a few months back.

[ The man who appears on the screen is currently looking at what seems to be a little notepad before adding the word 'space' next to the words 'reality tv'. Really, he could have done this space setting if it included an inter-galactic war or helping planets in peril.

But in all honesty, Steve Rogers: entertainer has never been his career choice and it's not his forte, either. At least now the whole thing doesn't include singing and girls in scandalously short skirts. ]

My name is Steve Rogers, currently aboard the SS Pathstone. I've done a little bit of reading while aboard the Marsiva. I understand there are those who are trying to help the people on the moon we're visiting, if there is anything you need, I'd do whatever I can do to help.

[ you might catch a glimmer of red and blue and silver just behind him. A wink as the light hits metal ]

The same goes for going home. I imagine people have already looked into ways for us to leave this place. No one should be taken anywhere against their will. I'd like to hear about the information you have managed to collect and I'll do everything I can to make sure everyone will be able to go home safely.

[ you all get a little smile. he's so awkward at these things, can you tell by now. ]

I should very much like to see that. [ and then, perhaps, she will have seen everything. the scrappy scrawny kid from brooklyn, outwitting and out-braving all his cohort. the star-spangled man. the soldier. but steve rogers, busy in the kitchen...?

with an ache, she thinks of apple pie. tucked away in a drawer in this very kitchen is a piece of paper with a recipe scribbled down: sarah rogers's apple pie. jim gave her the instructions, once upon a time. she's cherished them. ]

I get by. I live on my own - though I admit, I don't understand many things about that time but microwave dinners are pretty efficient.

[ thank god for anything instant ]

[ oh, my darling. you can't offer up a line like that and not expect a spy -- or anyone, really -- not to dig their impeccably polished nails into it. ]

...You live alone?

Fury found a place. Been there since.

[ he looks at her, wonders why it matters. What he can't see that she's able to. If there was ever a proof Steve Rogers doesn't understand women. ]

It must be difficult. [ she hems. she haws. the last time steve was here, he as good as told her there hadn't been anyone else. not anyone of consequence. but the fair thing is, perhaps, to pretend like she knows nothing. ] Being alone.

[ says the woman who would live like a hermit if given the chance. her flat-mates come to bad ends. ]

There's work.

[ and for a while there wasn't even that until Fury came with his news of Loki and the world being in peril and pulled him out into the world. ]

There's Sam. You haven't met him yet. He's a friend.

[ -- her mouth quirks. she wants to say how do you know i haven't met him yet? but, of course, she hadn't. it only proves he's been asking questions of his own and interrogating, in his gentle fashion, the other people he's been meeting.

good. it's the smart way to be. ]

Tell me about him.

He's helping me catch up, mostly music. He served for some time, he - flies. Army gear but it's pretty impressive. He's very -- optimistic. About the world. I like it.

[ god knows the world needs optimists. ]

He's not a bad runner.

[ optimistic. god, the '40s also lacked in that department. but steve's affection for his friend put her in mind of angie, and that's a fresh ache she didn't need to entertain right now. peggy pushes it aside, and refocuses upon steve. ]

Is he part of the team?

New member. He helped Natasha and I when no one else did.

[ with them filled with ash and dirt on his doorstep and the whole of SHIELD on their trail and he never thought twice. ]

Good. [ a benign smile of approval. ] I'd say I'd like to meet him but -- well, perhaps it's best I don't. There aren't many I'd actively wish to see stuck in this fleet.

[ -- but admittedly, it's hard to be upset that steve's back. ]

There are some I rather not be here at all. What do you know of Loki?

[ please don't say you like that guy, he's the worst. ]

I know enough. Alien in origin, and a first rate narcissist.

Dangerous. More so than whoever runs this show understands. Whatever he's waiting for, it won't be good. Have you met his brother?

[ A little smile ]

He's quite the character.

I know Thor by reputation only. We never had the chance to meet -- much to my disappointment. He sounds more pleasant than Loki.

[ loki unnerves her, and she is so rarely unnerved. ]

He would have liked you.

[ would have probably called her 'fair lady'. That does make him smile for a moment ]

Loki hates Thor as fiercely as he loves him but if I know one thing about him, he's proud. Whoever brought us here humiliated him. He's biding his time but eventually he'll act out.

That, I can quickly believe. I haven't made a point of speaking to him -- but it does happen, on occasion. He does love to lord over the rest of us, however artificially.

He claims he died in his world, that he changed. With Thor gone I can't affirm that. He doesn't act different. Whatever ship he's on - I'll talk to the crew again. It's best they stay alert.

He's...involved with someone. [ romantically. ] She doesn't sing his praises, but she doesn't damn him either. I'll talk to her -- see if I can get any sort of verification on his claim.

[ he nearly drops his tea cup. ]

Loki is?

[ and here he thought the man was mostly just in love with himself ]

...well. I guess it goes to show my mother was right about the pods and the lids.

Wise woman, your mother.

She was.

[ he shakes his head ]

I'm beginning to realize just how much.

[ Loki being romantic ]

Who's the lucky lady?

[ lucky, indeed ]

Her name is Rogue. [ peggy tries to strip some of the emotion from her voice -- she quite likes rogue, all told. but steve doesn't need to hear the sentimental argument from her. ] And, from what I can tell, she hails from one of those not-quite-like-ours worlds.

Has to be.

[ from a very, very peculiar world, especially with a name like rogue. ]

Non-human?

[ he can't see Loki being anything but himself towards a human girl, ok ]

Mutant, according to her. And a few others. Apparently they exist in some numbers in some versions of the world back home.
