Hank too is drawn by the girlish cries in the kitchen, just at the tail end of the sparks flying. He squints at the scene, then leans against the doorway and crosses his arms, eyebrows raised]

Do I want to ask?
benames: (pic#10209970)

[personal profile] benames 2016-05-14 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I want to go ahead and say but.

[ staring at it. traitor of a microwave. these things don't usually happen to Cisco, think of the impression he's leaving. ]

well, the good news is it can be easily fixed.
beathach: (96)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-05-14 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
If you can fix it, I won't say a thing.

Except to ask how you - managed whatever it is you did. So I know not to do it in the future.

[he has to tease a little]
benames: (pic#10209987)

[personal profile] benames 2016-05-14 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
oh I see how it is.

[ but he smiles, checks the thing and hums ]

I think I gave it a little too much credit. obviously he can't take the amount of power I put him up for.

[ not yet ready to be fully Cisco'ed :( ]

I'll have to turn it down a notch.
beathach: (95)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-05-14 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[Cisco did you give the microwave a gender]

Probably. I can't say I've ever seen a microwave do what it was doing, so - maybe two notches, just to be safe. Until he, uh - can handle the power you want him to have.
benames: (Default)

[personal profile] benames 2016-05-14 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[ he sure did. and a name. ]

listen, once I get this baby working, it'll be more powerful and it'll allow you guys to make the best toasts in the fleet. So maybe I overdid it with the power but in a few minutes, I'll have that fixed and -

[ looking around ]

at least nothing caught on fire.
beathach: (75)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-05-14 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[he holds up his hands]

Far be it from me to interfere. I know you know what you're doing.

[he also looks around, and with a wry noise] Hopefully it stays that way.
benames: (pic#10209948)

[personal profile] benames 2016-05-14 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I will absolutely stay like that or Sara will kill me.

[ and hank let him tell you, she's able ]

so what are you been up to? any luck with finding solutions to the whole post apocalyptic moon problem?
beathach: break open the sky (97)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-05-14 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think she'll actually kill you.

[he hopes. But he also knows better than to assume.

He blows out a sigh and shakes his head]
Mostly, the ice cream project and - you know, studying samples from the moon. I know almost nothing about terraforming, though, and what I do is all concepts and hypothetical theories.
benames: (pic#10209961)

[personal profile] benames 2016-05-14 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
but are we sure.

[ he gives him a little look that's followed by a little nod. it's his life on the line here, dude. ]

Man, I have a friend from home that I think would have solved alla this in less than fifteen minutes. This is really her sort of thing. She's the smartest cookie I know.

[ smiling above his work ]

These labs would be like Disneyworld to her.

[ he misses caitlin more than usual but maybe it's due to the fact the last Caitlin he saw was that drama queen Killer Frost ]
beathach: (99)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-05-14 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Er. I won't let her kill you?

[he's got your back, man. Unless it comes down to just getting yelled at, then they're both probably screwed. Women are scary]

Yeah? She sounds impressive, if this sort of thing is falls into her expertise. I can't say I know anyone like that back home - it's really just me and Charles, and we're both geneticists.
benames: (pic#10209937)

[personal profile] benames 2016-05-17 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I heard the question mark there, Hank. Hold this -

[ he throws a screw at his direction before grabbing another ]

Everything falls into Caitlin's expertise, she's the best bio-engineer out there. I don't think I've met a Charlie yet.

[ since there's no way the guy's name is Charles ]
beathach: (96)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-05-17 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[he laughs and catches the screw] I know better than to interfere with an angry woman.

She's a bio-engineer? Geez, I keep hearing about all these impressive scientists in fields that - aren't really popular in my time. I'm jealous.

[and - this laugh is a little choked on, oh goodness]

If you ever meet him, please call him that. But his name is Charles Xavier. He's on the Heron.
benames: (pic#10210003)

[personal profile] benames 2016-05-23 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
You'd like Caitlin, she's our kind of a nerd. Workaholic, curious, definitely brilliant and she's the funniest drunk in the world.

[ firm nod ]

never tell I said that if she does come here.
beathach: (83)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-05-24 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Tell her what? That you told me she's brilliant?

[he knows better than to drop those kind of comments Cisco, pls]
benames: (pic#10209983)

[personal profile] benames 2016-05-24 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
You're a good man.

[ hand to his heart ]

ok. I think I'm done.

[ lifting the microwave ]

it's definitely not going to explode on us again.
beathach: (59)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-05-24 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
. . . are you certain about that?

[he has to ask, because if it explodes it'll likely be on someone who will get mad]
benames: (pic#10209987)

[personal profile] benames 2016-05-26 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
102% certain and these odds don't happen very often with me. I mean, usually I'm just about - 86% sure? a healthy 90%? pass the wheat thingies and the peanut butter gel -

[ opening the microwave! ]
beathach: (02)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-05-26 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
As long as they're above 80%. [that's the lowest he'll go when it comes to odds. He grabs th food as asked and passes it over]
benames: (pic#10209963)

[personal profile] benames 2016-05-26 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[ he puts it in and turns it on. ]

ha - it's working. I knew it could take this amount of energy.

[ 40 seconds later he pulls out something that does have the smell and look of a toast and bites into it ]

ok - it's not perfect since the gel is not exactly peanut butter but this stuff is legit. want half of mine?
beathach: (85)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-05-26 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
How much did you increase it?

[because of course he's going to ask the nerd questions. He eyes what comes out of the microwave for a long moment before he huffs a little, good-natured] I won't say no to food, sure.
benames: (pic#10209992)

[personal profile] benames 2016-05-27 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
at first? 120% - I know.

[ nuts but hear him out ]

It's space tech though so I thought it might take it - this is a healthy 64%.
beathach: (34)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-05-27 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[oh my god Cisco. Hank just looks . . . pained. And sympathetic. Because if he were capable he'd probably do the same damn thing]

Space tech isn't as robust as it seems. Good to know.
benames: (pic#10209983)

[personal profile] benames 2016-05-28 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Definitely has its flaws.

[ which could be disappointing and in some ways, it is but it also isn't because ]

which means, when we find the important flaws, we might be able to fight back against the alien jackasses who brought us here.
beathach: (102)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-05-28 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm all about finding flaws in their tech for that very reason. [because he too wants to go home, even if nearly all the people who he'd want to go home to were already here]
