This isn't your world. Whatever grievances people have, they generally try to leave them behind so they can coexist in places like this.

It sounds easy to say, and I know it isn't. But you can't - go seeking justice because of something from your world, especially when it puts other people in danger. Not only on the Windrose, but on this ship too.

I can't leave this behind. It is my purpose.

It's complicated. We are, perhaps, the last of our kind. Centuries ago, he and the others were tricked into slaughtering our predecessors. I alone escaped. And when she sealed them in cryostasis to protect them from their crimes, I faced the expanse of space alone.

If - that's what you think will happen, then why not try to reason with him instead of killing him? [that makes more sense to him than seeking justice]

There is no reasoning with him! He clings to her as if--as if he forgot what she did to him. He must be freed from her, or face the consequences of his actions.

Have you tried? Have you asked others to help you? There's other ways than just killing him and being done with it. Freeing him from this person - that seems more worthwhile, don't you think?

There were--there are no others. She took them all and trapped them in the dream. And I did not know until--

She has corrupted his honor. There is no other way to save him.

There are others here, though. Others who would rather you two work out your problems than kill each other. You're not alone here.

Others. You mean the crew of the Windrose, who he has clearly already convinced of his "innocence."

[His broadcast showed him that much. He overestimated the Tenno's commitment to keeping certain details private.]

There's two sides to every story. [and he's glad he believes that, rather than taking everything at face value] I don't know him, and you're on this ship with me. If I thought they were 100% right, I wouldn't have bothered coming to speak to you about this in the first place.

So there's one. The Windrose's captain seems as though he'd be willing to listen, too.

They would not appreciate the nuance. And they would not let me manage this as is appropriate. We are among the last of our kind, he and I. He has no right to bring in outside interference.

[beathach]

How do you know that? You're making assumptions. [but he huffs a little, his expression wry] But no, they won't let you manage this the way you want to. And - to be entirely fair, you brought in outside interference, too.

If the situation was reversed, I'd be the one calling over there.

After reaction, was this not a safe assumption?

Do you want to work this out between the two of you? Or, I should say - would you be willing to try? Without killing him?

Why are you so convinced that we could work this out?

Because I've seen enough violence to know that it isn't the answer. And I've seen what vengeance does to people - to those who actually do seek it out, and those who only entertain the thought.

There's dozens of other options available to you, and people who are willing to help. I'm willing to help, if you're willing to try.
