[ When Obi-Wan hears the first few times of the harp, he had to glance over his shoulder to see whether he's carrying his guitar. He follows the sound curiously before he finds Maglor strumming the harp. He rests himself against the wall, listening.

Obi-Wan wasn't a patron of the arts, though he had a healthy appreciation for those who did. Learning music was a start, but he would never fully reach this level. ]

[ Maglor looks up when he comes in and smiles at him, but he bends back to the harp until the piece is finished before he greets him properly ]

Well met sir - I hope I was not interrupting?

[beardstrokes]

[ A little rueful. ]

Not at all. I was simply admiring your skill with the instrument.

[bythewaves]

[ Maglor smiles, pleased, and his hands brush his harp almost lovingly ]

Thank you - I am glad I am still able to bring pleasure this way. Maglor, at your service, sir. Might I know your name?

I am Obi-Wan Kenobi. One of the pilots on this ship.

[ Taking a good look at the man now . . . his posture and look was very similar to Qui-Gon and many other Jedi Masters. ]

I have an instrument myself but I'm afraid I'm not decent enough to play for the public.

Well met, Obi-Wan Kenobi. [ Maglor tips his head in a graceful bow to him and offers shyly ]

I could see if I could help, if you like. I am not familiar with many of the things here, but I would love to see your instrument. And I have always felt that if you truly love playing, it will out in your music, and that, I think, is worthy of any ear.

I can't say I do.

[ Obi-Wan is completely focused on talents that are useful, beneficial for a Jedi that practicing the arts doesn't factor in. ]

But you're welcome to take a look at it.

That is probably the issue.

[ Maglor hums softly ]

Music requires you to love it, if you wish it to love you in return. But I would love the opportunity to learn something new.

[beardstrokes]

[ Obi-Wan folds his arms behind his back. ]

I'm afraid I've never been good at that aspect.

[bythewaves]

At love?

[ Maglor crooks a curious eyebrow at him ]

Perhaps you have just not found your passion, yet.

[beardstrokes]

[ This is literally Obi-Wan's worst topic. ]

I think passion is better left to people younger than me.

[ Maglor chuckles softly ]

Are you so old? Forgive me, I find Men's ages hard to judge, but you do not seem so!

[beardstrokes]

[ He smiles in turn. ]

Old in spirit, at least.

[bythewaves]

Ah now, but that should not be!

[ Maglor teases a little, but then his voice takes a turn for the sadly wistful ]

After all, Men hasten so swiftly towards their escape, it seems, and I fain hold back the tide, for a while.

[beardstrokes]

I doubt any of us really . . . hasten towards that.

[ Even in war, it just seems like it's all around them, whether they wanted to be there or not. ]

The tide will come, regardless.

[bythewaves]

Deliberately, I suppose not! But to one such as I... time seems to move far too swiftly, at times.

[ He nods sadly ]

I know. I just wish sometimes... ah, but do not mind me. I grow maudling, at time.

[beardstrokes]

[ Gently. ]

Do you have too much time on your hands?

[bythewaves]

Far too much, it sometimes feels. Truly they told us we would envy Men! As the world rolls on, I find I do.

[beardstrokes]

[ Obi-Wan recalls his own fate - the last of the Jedi. ]

It can't always be helped, I'm afraid.

[bythewaves]

No. [ Maglor smiles a little sadly, and almost unconsciously, his fingers pick out a lament on his harp ]

I know that it is not wise to dwell overly in the past - but when one is the last... it is difficult not to, at times. And my folk always did have a habit of looking back, instead of forwards. The world of Men simply moves too swiftly.

[beardstrokes]

But they move with purpose and fulfillment. Even when it's over too fast, they rarely waste what comes their way.

[bythewaves]

They do. [ and there is a flash of almost paternal pride there ]

So brightly they burn, and such deeds they accomplish, as to make even the darkness pause.

[beardstrokes]

And we will continue to do that until the Dark is no longer a threat.

[ The use of the word Dark gives Obi-Wan pause. It's almost the Men in Maglor's world were similar to the Jedi. ]

[bythewaves]

Násië!. [ Maglor says fervently ]

[ Obi-Wan shrugs. ]
