[Well, now that's just rude. Nevermind that he's been entirely rude back.]

It does not drool like many organic beings, nor did it ransack and-destroy and rip- things that were not its. Ordis has found in his memories that many organic beings do these things. Ordis assures you that this is a high compliment, as Ordis is not always fond of organics.

[Dig that hole a little deeper.]

I bet the rats would have something to say about that! She goes around killing and destroying them, so how's that any better?

Rats destroy. They chew through wire-teeth like saws, hurts- short circuit life stabilizing technology. They do not belong on ships. She is doing her job.

They're only trying to survive, just like anything else. Their teeth are always growin' so they have to gnaw on things to keep 'em short. And they come on ships 'cause there's food. They ain't boardin' you 'cause they out to get you. And Snuggles was only doin' his job of patrollin' and takin' care of us - like Wrath taught him. So rats and foxes and Rhiannon, they're not that different.

Have you ever had vermin gnaw at your insides?

[She's a witch and a necromancer. Not too many things gross her out. Besides...]

Yeah, I have. Maggots. It sucks, and I ain't saying it doesn't, but my point is you're goin' around actin' like the animals are out to get you, that they've got some sort of malicious plan, when they don't. They're just doin' their own jobs. Maggots didn't know I wasn't actually dead and if we didn't have maggots we'd have a bunch of corpses lyin' around and no one wants that. Rats don't know they're hurtin' you and Rhiannon don't know she's hurtin' the rats. It doesn't do anybody any good to get mad at either of them for it.

[She's trying to stay calm, like she promised Vision, but this is getting frustating.]

[In all his many years of shoddily remembered knowledge, that's certainly the first time he's ever heard of something like this. It makes his skin crawl, if he's being honest with himself. Things rooting around in other things...just the worst.]

Ordis...does not have a good track record with invasive species. But will concede to your point. And also offer condolences for having to survive through such an attack.

Thank you, but it wasn't as bad as what got me in the ground in the first place. Now, you wanna talk about humans doin' bad things to each other and I'm sure to people like you, I'm with you there.

While Ordis does not remember any time with Orokin, with humans, he is well aware of the cruelties they are capable of inflicting up on others. Far too familiar. He would agree with you wholeheartedly on that point.

People here are different though.

[She frowns.]

Well, not everyone. But this is a good crew.

Yes.

[The answer almost feels like it should surprise him, but he's found nothing of the contrary yet. It's a strange feeling, really.]

Ordis...finds the beings aboard this ship to be very agreeable and will admit that he is somewhat amazed that such an eclectic crew has managed to work so well together.

Well I think maybe most of us know a little what it's like to be on the outside lookin' in, you know?

Yes, again. Doesn't the saying go 'birds of a feather' or something of the sort?

[mistyday]

That's right. "Birds of a feather flock together." So even though we may argue and all that, I want you to know I got your back Ordis. You and Tenno both.

[cephalon]

Oh.

[That's a sentiment he's not used to hearing, and it takes a moment before he's able to process and formulate a proper response.]

Ordis would ask that you have his Operator's back first, but...Ordis will do what he can to have yours as well.

[Oh how she knows that surprised feeling. Still something she's getting used to here. She smiles.]

We'll protect him, don't you worry.

[And perhaps for once in his life he's being sincere with his sentiments.]

Ordis would wish to call you 'friend' if such would be acceptable.

[Oh, how her face lights up and she smiles real big. Quick though she may be to anger, she’s quick to love too.]

Of course you can call me friend!

[Her smile is contagious, and he can't help but beam back. It's such a very human expression, but it feels right.]

Ordis has never had friends. He is delighted to call you the first.

I know a little something about what that's like - I ain't ever had very many friends either.

Then Ordis shall be an additional plus one to that number.

[Still smiling brightly, Misty bounces out her chair and comes towards him with her arms open before coming to a stop. Remember what Vision said - she can't expect Ordis to react the same way she would to things. So she drops her arms and instead gently asks:]

Ordis, would you be okay if I gave you a hug?

[cephalon]

Oh- [What a question that is; certainly he's aware of such forms of comraderie and affection, but it's entirely different to be faced with them. There's a definite grateful pang at her questioning though, it at least gives him forewarning to prepare himself.]

Ordis will try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained...right? That is the other colloquialism.

[She throws her arms enthusiastically around his shoulders.]

[Oh that-

that's a lot more enthusiastic than he'd been expecting. It's momentarily overwhelming, and he freezes at the sensation of her arms around him, but moment by moment he wills himself to relax.]

They do appear to be a favorable way of human communication.
