Yeah, it's dye. I thought about getting it permanently changed over but... Never did. I don't know why. I mean when I was in the army. Once I got out... It seemed less important? I still don't know why.

I keep worrying I'm going to not be able to find dye here, though.

How do you permanently change it other than dye?

Oh they do something to your hair follicles, I think with nanobots? Or if you can't afford that, just remove all the hair and the implant synthetic. Which doesn't grow, so that's kind of a good thing and kind of a bad thing?

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-06-01 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
That...seems like a lot of resources used on hair.
pain_train: (are you fudgeing serious)

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-06-01 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Does it?

It's not that involved of a body mod. You should see some of the weird shit the rich assholes in district one get up to.

I guess it surprises me because our worlds seemed...similar-ish, but we don't ahve anything like that. Well, aside from genetic augmentation, but that's not usually a volunteer thing.

Maybe the society is a bit? But I think we've got lots of tech you don't. Like uterine replicators and vat protein and plasma swords.

I'm from the year 3193.

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-06-02 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
I'm from the year everything is fucked. Do I want to know what a uterine replicator is? [Except it sounds kind of self explanatory.]

It's a thing that babies grow in so people don't have to. Um. Gestate them in their bodies because that's got a lot of health risks and can fuck people up?
passingthrough: (Contemplative)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-06-04 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that's...something. Must be extra useful for people who can't have them otherwise.

Oh yeah, for sure. It means homosexual couples can have have kids too, which is great!

[Her reaction is going to be a lot milder than Kurt's there. No toxic masculinity upbringing for obvious reasons and some experience with it in the prison.]

They don't require an egg and sperm? Or do you mean with donations?

Nah, they have a way to like... mix it together right in a lab. I don't know how it works. Above my paygrade. But it works!
passingthrough: (Contemplative)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-06-11 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
So no one does it the old fashioned way?
pain_train: (disapproval)

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-06-13 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
There are some weird ultra-conservative genetic purist people in D1, I've heard. Rich people are weird.
passingthrough: (Calm)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-06-19 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
Huh.

So, it's cheaper this way?
pain_train: (raveled care)

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-06-19 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
It's technically cheaper to do it in your body. Don't have to pay for replicator rental or anything.
passingthrough: (Curious - Wondering)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-06-23 12:50 pm (UTC)(link)
But only weird, rich people do it. Hmm, I guess I never really thought about alternatives since we didn't have any like that.
pain_train: (that's interesting)

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-06-23 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, and super poor people who don't have birth control implants, but those are cheap so...

I think the government's been making the replicators really cheap too, like with um. Subsidies? Because the population really needs to recover I guess. They were encouraging everyone to have kids and stuff. Which was... kind of weird in a way.
passingthrough: (Statuesque)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-06-24 12:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, having the government regulate your baby output is pretty weird no matter which direction they're doing it from.
pain_train: (back against the wall)

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-06-25 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
It's.... Something that I get confused about. It bothers me, but I know that they had the city's best interest at heart.
passingthrough: (Curious - Wondering)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-06-26 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
What do you mean when you say you get confused about it? [Because you say things like that a lot and she's not sure where it's coming from.]
pain_train: (hidden)

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-06-26 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
Um... I just mean that it bothers me but I know it shouldn't. Like when you think two different things at the same time. It's confusing. But not a big deal.
passingthrough: (Contemplative)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-06-29 12:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wrath, what is going on in there?] Do you mean when you can understand and sympathize with two different sides of an argument? [It doesn't exactly sound like that.]
pain_train: (wary)

[personal profile] pain_train 2016-06-30 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
...I guess? More like... when you think too opposite things at the same time and know they're both true but they literally can't both be true. It's confusing when that happens, right?

[....isn't this a problem that everyone has?]
