I'm trying this cooking thing. I'm pretty sure it's not dangerous to eat, but does anyone want to come and be a guinea pig? These gel things are making roasts a lot fucking harder than they should be...

[On the Bishop, Apollo has taken over the kitchen for now. He manages to look surprisingly domestic, bumming around in ship standard provided clothing and hair pulled up into a ponytail that bobs along to whatever music he's imagining as he 'cooks'.

Cooking occasionally involves eye lasers. Which doesn't work on the gels half as well as he hoped it would.]

Do you know I've been trying to make sugar in my lab? I feel like the universe is laughing at me now.

[Apollo is indeed putting a muffin tray in the oven and closing the door up.]

Really? How? Like, seriously, how does that even work? How is sugar made? Isn't it like, from cane or something?

It comes from cane and other plants, yeah. I was extracting it from that gel nonsense and replicating it. [he huffs out an amused noise] It gave me something to do.

[In return, Apollo offers out a tub with little white crystals of sweet goodness.]

I should have just asked, huh.

Well, in fairness, I had no idea other ships didn't have kitchens like this until Kate told me.

You know Kate? Yeah, our kitchen is . . . definitely not like this. But then again, the Blameless is a newer ship.

I know a Kate. Kate Bishop. She transferred from this ship because... name, ship name, weird.

[beathach]

That'd be the one I know, then. [he snorts] Weird, but I'm glad she's over on my ship. She's a good cook, especially considering what's available to her.

I told to come over and cook here if she needs to. I probably shouldn't randomly invite people over, but no one's told me not to, so, fuck 'em.

There's nothing wrong with that. I routinely invite people over too - which - admittedly not the same as inviting people to use a kitchen, but - [he shrugs]

Hey, the more we all share, the better the outcomes in theory. Shared ingredients and skills, so long as we don't all try and cook at the same time.

It's a very ironic name, in some cases.

[Apollo goes and serves up something like looks like a rich mince in gravy topped with mashed potato into a bowl and offers it over with a spoon.]

Here, this was my first successful experiment.

[Hank takes the bowl curiously, but there's absolutely no hesitation when he takes a bite. Food is food, and - well, he isn't the greatest at feeding himself when he should]

You can, but we're not in America and I'm not American. I don't have a nationality.

Because that's the only reason I can think of for that sort of enthusiasm about my food.

Hey - I'm being honest, it's good. It doesn't taste like my cooking, so it's automatically amazing.

All right, fair enough. I did learn to cook well enough to keep the child happy.
