Hey! Soooooo since we're all stuck here, and going outside on this planet kinda sucks bigtime right now, I've been making it a project of mine to try and learn as much as I can about the different cultures of the other worlds people here are from! Particularly Earth, because there's so many of you! Someone told me the collective noun is "Earthlings"? Anyway.

I've been trawling through the media library, but to be honest, I'm not very good at sitting and reading for long periods of time. So I figured, why not just ask you guys instead?

Tell me one (or more!) thing about your home world that you think is culturally significant. It can be traditional, religious, social, or pop culture is fair game too! After all, it's no fun when people are making pop culture references that fly over my head.

The only rule is that you can't say the same thing as someone else. You ready? Go!

[Now his eyebrows raise up together.] Really? Well, I suppose with further age comes further maturity.

[resnipstance]

Yeah. I'm going to level with you-- I was pretty immature at thirteen. And that was only three years ago! There's no way I'd feel ready to marry someone even now.

[tallasaking]

Well, in my world, you must grow up a great deal faster. My nephew was made king when he was sixteen - of course clearly he wasn't prepared. Robb Stark was king at sixteen, again, probably not something he was prepared for ...

[And now he is going to rub his beard again.] Perhaps we really should be rethinking the ages of consent.

[resnipstance]

I'll say.

Anyway. You mentioned a minute ago that you didn't want to be married to Sansa either. Right? So-- why do it?

[tallasaking]

[Tyrion sighed, waving his hand, before holding up one finger. Now he really wished he had a drink.] Firstly, because my father commanded me to do so. In my world, to disobey the head of your House is like disobeying your King. The consequences are only slightly less dire.

[He held up another finger.] Two ... it was the best way to protect her from my nephew and sister. Marrying me put her under the blanket of my protection, kept her from being beaten ... or worse.

[A pause, and a sigh.] Three ... well. If the only chance I was going to have to be even partially happily married was with someone I could consider an ally, if not a true wife? Then I was going to take that chance. Given the opportunity, I would have taken Sansa back to Winterfell. Allowed her to rule from there and away from my poisonous family.

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka listens well, taking it all in. Finally:]

... I see. So... you don't agree with what your family is doing, then.

[tallasaking]

My dear Ahsoka. [Tyrion gave her a long look, weary beyond belief. It aged him far more than his nearly thirty years on this planet.]

I have not agreed with my family for most of my damned life. The only thing we have ever agreed on was me not being murdered in the cradle.

[resnipstance]

... Wow.

That's a little intense, isn't it?

[tallasaking]

[One corner of his mouth lifted.] Welcome to the House of Lannister.

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka pauses, then, and looks away.]

... What's going to happen to Sansa? When she goes back.

[tallasaking]

[He looks over at her, his gaze narrowing slightly.]

Sansa ... I have no idea, honestly. I am literally a world away from her. [He sighed, looking up to the ceiling.] Right now she is under the thumb of a very unscrupulous individual.

[resnipstance]

What? What do you mean?

["Unscrupulous individual" could mean so many things.]

[tallasaking]

I mean that she is currently the ward of a man who has convinced her that she should play his bastard, and marry whom he thought she ought to marry. To secure him power, of all things.

[He makes a noise from his throat that is thwarted rage.] If I had my druthers he would be choking on his own blood -- but again, I am no where close to him in our world.

[resnipstance]

What? How can she marry someone else if she's already married to you? Don't you at least have to get a divorce first?

[tallasaking]

Legally, yes. With all due respect to our religion - yes. However we never consummated the marriage, so there can be argument that we are not truly married in that sense.

[resnipstance]

What! That's the dumbest rule I ever heard! Surely if you're married, you're married! I bet loads of people have marriages where they don't have sex!

[tallasaking]

Not where I come from.

[A thoughtful pause.]

Of course, we are not there right now. We are here.

[resnipstance]

[Completely unapologetically:]

Your world is weird.

[tallasaking]

I cannot argue that.

[Amusement, in his mis-matched eyes. Then his gaze narrowed.] How did you know we were married? Sansa swore me to silence.

[resnipstance]

Huh? Oh. Sansa told me.

["Obviously-- who else?" her tone implies.]

[tallasaking]

[Ah ... what?]

She told you we were married. [And now you are going to get his best squint-eyed look.] Why?

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka blinks.]

She's my friend.

[As if that explains everything. Well, to Ahsoka, it does.]

[tallasaking]

I see.

[He really didn't.]

Did she swear you to secrecy?

[resnipstance]

[.............. Realisation dawns belatedly on Ahsoka's face. Oops.

Yes, yes she did.]

Uhhhhhh...

There. Might have been some of that. Involved.

[AHSOKA PLEASE.]

[tallasaking]

[He sighed softly, as he rubbed one hand over his face. Well, that explained that.]

So you are having a discussion about our forced marriage, with me, without Sansa's permission?

[He gives her one raised eyebrow.]
