She's gotten her hands on something to write with--and in--at least, so maybe now she can start a list of the people she's met and her notes on them. starting with a list of everyone on her current crew, except...
Well. Everything's pretty blank following their names. She knows nothing about these people. Yuri hesitates-- does she even want to know about them? Closeness meant potentially reading their minds and that had never ended very well for her....
Yuri sits there for a few moments longer, contemplating, before getting up and seeking out the others.]
Excuse me...?
[TIME FOR OFFICIAL INTRODUCTIONS]
no subject
He looks up when Yuri comes in.]
Oh, hey. What's up, comm officer number three.
no subject
Um.
[Words, Yuri, use your words.] Are those wings real? [NAILED IT. Her face turns bright red and she clears her throat]
I, ah... That was rude... [But she's been dying to know okay??]
no subject
No, I just walk around like this sometimes as a hobby.
[But he sits up, resettling his wings, and takes his feet off the task station.]
Yeah, they're real. Side effect of being the unfortunate biological collision of kid and crow. My parents had a hella complicated relationship. [He's so full of shit.]
no subject
That's a joke, right? [Honestly, with everything else she's seen here, that probably wouldn't be on the list of "Craziest thing" so. She'd be more-or-less willing to believe it.
She kinda wants to touch them but that'd be A. Creepy and B. Rude so she clasps her hands behind her back and frowns at him, trying to figure him out.]
...Anyway, I'm new-- Obviously. I was just... trying to introduce myself to everyone, I guess. [A pause and she adds, belatedly] I'm Yuri.
no subject
[He doesn't seem to mind she called him on it.]
But cool to officially meet you and all that. Inasmuch as it can be cool in the circumstances. Or maybe reality TV is your jam? I can never tell how chill people are gonna be about it.
[Wait, he's getting sidetracked.]
I'm, uh, Davesprite. [He shrugs a little, movement mimicked by his wings.] I guess I'm technically comm officer number two.
no subject
Pleased to meet you, Davesprite-san. [What a mouthful. But she's gonna be polite, she's gonna be polite.] Who's comm officer number one...?
no subject
[He matches her tone and gives her a quick thumbs up, like he didn't have a small meltdown over still being trapped with the Fleet a month ago.]
And just Davesprite's fine. Or Bird Dave. Or hey, asshole. "San" is just a little too anime for me. [Why is he allowed to talk.] But it's a guy named Daneel...Olivaw? Something like that. Just keep your eyes peeled for the only bonafide adult dude aboard.
no subject
I... think I'm considered an adult... [Though maybe not, different countries have different ideas about that and she's not sure where 'space' falls under. She shakes her head though and moves on, deciding she doesn't actually want to be considered an adult in this place. SHe doesn't want the responsibilities she already has]
Are you American? [She can't help but ask, because honestly he's hitting every stereotype she's heard. He just needs a bigger nose and to wave a gun around.]

He nearly runs into the newcomer, and blinks at her for a moment. He almost spills his drink on her, a few drops splattering on the floor. ] Uh, yeah? [ She doesn't look like one of their crew, and Isaac is out of the loop most of the time when they have new recruits. ] Sorry.
no subject
Sorry, I wasn't paying attention... [Well she was and she'd probably argue it was totally his fault!! But that would require more care and effort than she's willing to put out.
Anyway.]
I'm Yuri, um... I'm new? [She shifts uncomfortably, wondering if there's any kind of announcement for the old crew or if it's just as much of a surprise for them as it is for her]
no subject
[ Maybe he did hear the announcement. Atroma likes to make a big fuss of things, confetti and all. But it's been a weird month or two, what with them being on that moon longer than he expected. ]
Uh, hey. I'm Isaac. [ He actually looks down where he spilled the drink and frowns a little. ] Sorry about your shoe. I can show you around or something, if you want. Not sure how much you really know about this place or where you are, but. [ Eloquent as ever. So sorry, Yuri. ]
no subject
She looks down at her shoe too and gives it a little shake, shrugging.] It's fine. It's not like it ate through it or something. [Alien drinks could probably do that, right? She's sure something exists somewhere and there's probably an alien that loves that shit.
Sorry, her mind's still wrapping around the whole 'aliens' and 'actually in space' thing.] I have a...general idea? I don't really know my way around this ship though. [A pause and Yuri glances away, embarrassed.] I might be lost, actually so... It's a good thing you came along anyhow.
no subject
[ He doesn't exactly understand the formalities, and thinks maybe she misheard his name somehow. Isaac shrugs it off either way. ]
It's easy to get lost. I still do sometimes. [ It's easy to get turned around when so many of the corridors look exactly the same. ] Let me put this stuff away. [ He moves to the door for his room -- they're hatches and lead down into the rooms and he kicks his own open. ] Don't fall in when you get to your room -- it's gonna happen, but you'll get used to it. [ Once he deposits his food and drink in his room, he climbs back out. ] So, yeah. Our rooms are weird, but yours is probably around here somewhere. Just gotta find which one they gave you. It's quiet around here, mostly, so.
no subject
[She could call him 'senpai' but. Nah.
Get used to falling into her room?? Great. She keeps her expression neutral, peering curiously into the hole as he descends] Quiet's good, right? [Though maybe a little boring, but after the weird twists and turns of her life lately--not even counting the whole alien kidnapping thing-- she'd be pretty okay with boring for a while.]
no subject
[ He shrugs. ] But you can just call me Isaac. Not that... other stuff. [ A shrug, and he might even smile a tiny bit, because she looks lost. He'd felt like that, too. ] Yeah pretty good -- it can get really boring, though. We have some games and stuff we can play but you can only do that for so long. [ He guides her to the kitchen. ]
And ask around before you make any food -- there are some combinations that work, and some that seriously don't.
no subject
Bird dude... [There's a lot of information here that she's once again not sure where to start] I don't know. I think boring can be nice; especially right now. With everything else going on, I'd welcome a long breather.
[Okay that's sort of a lie. She'd rather be home knee-deep in the ghost shit she was in before and getting that done with than here but. You know. Whatever.]
I really only know how to make coffee anyhow. But.. What do you mean? [She glances around the kitchen, suddenly skeptical and a little wary. Were the appliances going to malfunction for no reason other than whacky kitchen hijinks for the viewers at home??]

Oh, hey- are you my new shipmate?
no subject
Yes, I'm Yuri. I'm a...communications officer? For some reason... [Seriously WHY.] I was just trying to say hi to everyone, since I suppose we'll all be living together from now on.
no subject
Not your usual skillset, huh? I'm Jennifer- I'm the ship's doctor, so you'll find me in the medbay a lot.
no subject
Were you a doctor before you were sent here, or...? [or was she just thrust into the role like Yuri with communications?]
no subject
Sometimes, Atroma'll give people augments that don't match their personality or skills very well. I guess they find it funny. I got lucky, because I was a doctor before coming here, yes- and my augment's lab support.
no subject
[Yuri hesitates, wanting to ask more, but not certain how much Jennifer might be willing to actually share.] Where are you from, originally? [That seems a safe start, and Yuri's curious]
no subject
I'm from Earth- originally from Wisconsin, if either of those places mean anything to you.
no subject
Yes, actually. It's in America, right? I'm from Japan. [She won't bother naming where exactly-- if it wasn't Tokyo, most Westerners probably wouldn't know it anyhow.] I've been meeting people from all sorts of different, er... planets or worlds, I was wondering if I'd ever meet other people from Earth.
