[Hange has sort of taken over the table in the galley. On it there now is: one (1) cup of cold coffee, one (1) communicator, one (1) dirty empty bowl, a lot of (????) bagged plant samples - roots, tubers, seeds, blooms that are beginning to wilt sadly in their plastic prison. Somewhere, she got some paper and writing tools too.

It looks like she's drawing some kind of weird shelf plan. There's pictures of plants on her communicator. Plants. Plants. Plaaaants. Why not take the forest with them, after all?

If it starts causing them to hallucinate... well, it'll be a fun and exciting surprise and they can just throw it all out the airlock! But she hopes that doesn't happen.]

[Nunnally has parked her chair in the corner of the ship's common room. She's taken her blanket from her bunk and has it draped over her legs as she leans back in her chair and seems to be... writing something? While on the last station, Nunnally procured a sweet notebook. Although her notebook is even better than the pictured notebook, because her cats are nestled between colorful and nutritious FLOOT LOOPS. After she finished writing whatever she was writing in the first few page, she flips forward a few page and tears out a page.

But now she seems to be undecided on something, so she taps her pencil against the notebook and looks up from her notebook. Wondering if anyone is nearby?]

[Hange strolls through the ship periodically... a small way to let off restless energy, like a pressure valve blown open. She pauses when she sees Nunnally look around.]

Do you need something?

[aw, she puts a smile on and shakes her head. Distraction is what she wants, but she won't demand it off the bat]

I was just passing time. Are you working on anything?

Oh I try to be. The fastest way to get bored is to refuse to find anything to do. [But she smiles.] It's not urgent, however. What are you up to?

[Oh. This must be the new person. Garak blinks, somewhat taken aback by how violently colorful that notebook is-- but it's not as if his own Floot Loops brand sweater is any better.]

Penning a story, my dear?

[Oh, right, he should probably introduce himself, right? Only he just sits down and smiles at her.]

[he comes ghosting by like he usually does... silently picking up that empty bowl without a sound and walking past her to put it in the sink where it belongs.]

[he was walking by, and... backtracks. squints at that notebook from the doorway.]

[She's pretty absorbed in her task, so she doesn't even look up. He's gonna have to give her a poke if he wants her attention.]

A game! [she draws four lines, a tic-tac-toe board]

Have you ever played tic-tac-toe?

Ah, we have this, I believe! [She grins, and throws a little look at Nunnally. The little one is bored too, hmm?]

Do you want to play a few rounds?

[she tries to suppress a small smile. Everyone looks pretty ridiculous in their floot loop gear, but this man has such a severe face contrasted with the colorful sweater drains away any trepidation she might have had]

Something like that. [she folder her hands over the notebook] I've never been much of a writer, but while we have an abundance of time... it never hurts to pick up new hobbies.

But, I'm glad we've finally gotten a chance to speak! My name is Nunnally, it's a pleasure to meet you.

[hm hm hm.... hm? she hears the footsteps stop, but it takes her a moment for her eyes to adjust to the light difference of the room and the hall. She waves....?]

Is something wrong?

[it's a bitchin' notebook, zhas, don't be jelly]

Garak, at your service.

[He dips his head politely, one hand going to his chest.]

I believe we'll be working together quite closely-- you've been assigned communications as well, haven't you?

If it sounds appealing. Or, I could also help you with your work, if you'd like?

[well, only if she wouldn't get underfoot]

[aw... she dips her head as well in a curtsy like way. So polite!]

Yes, it seems that way. I'm sorry for barging in so suddenly and encroaching on your space. Please feel free to let me know anything I can do to make the shared work environment an enjoyable one.

My dear, you're hardly encroaching. I would, however, like to get to know you more-- though I'll admit the motivation is entirely selfish, as I do hate being the only person not in the know, and it seems our shipmates are already acquainted with you.

You might be able to help me later! Have you ever gardened, Nunnally?

[As it is though, she starts drawing a tic tac toe grid.]

Mm, I feel just as out of the loop. I was only able to briefly speak to Coil before I... left for a time, and I'm just as excited to know you. [she offers him a smile! Hange made this place feel like a unit, and she wants that feeling to continue and be extended to everyone on this ship]

Would you mind chatting now? I wouldn't want to interrupt you if you were in the middle of something.

No, but I've always wanted to. [it wasn't seemly, but she's always loved gardens. Her genuine enthusiasm shows]

And as the grid-drawer, I think you should get the first move?

[She picks up the pen instead of answering, and makes an X in the center square.]

Well, you might be in luck. You recall that we just left a forest planet, of course - I spent a lot of time there taking samples of plants. Tubers, roots, blooms if I could find them - what I thought we could encourage into growing. What I want to do now is draw some plans for vertical... racks, I suppose you'd call them... and see if we can grow plants in those. If they're vertical they'll store better, and we might be able to cultivate greenery on a small scale.

Hopefully some of those plants will be useful for eating or for medicinal purposes. Either way, I think it'll be good for morale to have green things around.

Oh, that's such a good idea. [she ponders the idea as she makes an O in the upper left hand corner]

Don't plants needs sunlight specifically? Do you think we'll be able to mimic sunlight well enough for the plants to grow properly?

An engineer has arrived! I asked him about rigging growlights, so we'll see how that works out. Hopefully it won't be a problem.
