Oh, at the dance he was meeting Kurt from home and I brought it up. There was no long process. Nothing too serious.

Actually, I came up with it when I was like...14.

[ yeah, he can try to tease and act cool in front of kitty and kurt, but this is kara.

don't judge, what kid doesn't want to be a superhero? no kid he ever wants to meet! not that he's particularly excited about meeting kids, especially how his last foray into babysitting turned out...he was lonely, and he felt like he had so much to prove, what better way to distance himself from the toyman than by becoming his opposite? a superhero? at times, glitch was his only friend. ]

[ is it weird that the huff and eye roll make him feel warm and fuzzy and home? it's probably weird. but he doesn't have time to think about that, because kitty is saying heartbreaking things again and he really wants to hug her right now but this is probably not the time which is why she changed the subject back. so he settles on squeezing her hand. ]

He can be a little too in love with how right he thinks he is about something. [She had friction with him once.] Maybe fly him up into the air and try the conversation again and see how confident he is.

I'm -- a thousand percent sure it's nothing personal. He's always talking to me like I'm gonna blow the ship up in a mad-science moment. [ ... ] And he's kind of a bully with his treadmill.

[ no look he likes jim, but he made kara upset, that means it's totally time to trash him a little bit. priorities. ]

But look, Kara - he's never seen Supergirl in action - he doesn't know how amazing you are. Some people are just slow on the uptake. You know I'm - just as nervous about things going wrong on the ship [ just as? are you sure it's not a little more? ] but I know you, I've seen you in action, and I'm not even a little worried about you being the cause of it. I believe in you.

I'm kind of coming off of a tough time from what I remember, so I get that it's probably irrational, but I don't actually know how to prove to him I'm competent.

Though I like Kitty's idea...
