inquisitor's path 1: well, shit
Who: Jove Lavellan
Broadcast: fleetwide video
Action: the marsiva
When: right now!!
Well.
[It's half breathless, half amused, and said with something of a strained grin. Why does weird shit keep happening to her. At least this time when she's waking up there's no chains around her wrists or incredibly intimidating women shouting questions at her. Her hand aches dimly, but it's nowhere near as bad as she's used to. She must be very far from home if she can't feel any rifts nearby.]
Could someone tell me what year it is? One moment you're jumping through a magical mirror and now here I am in... whatever this is.
I'm fairly certain it's not the Fade and I don't feel particularly dead.
[And then, more quietly,]
Cassandra is going to kill me.

video;
[VARRIC PLEASE.]
Spying, huh? So you popped out of your forest to have a look at men in dresses beating the shit out of each other?
video;
[Where is the popcorn, seeing an earlier version of Varric grumble about Cassandra is just as entertaining as her own Varric doing it.]
Wouldn't you? All that commotion means eventually something has to give. Better to have an idea where the mess is coming from so you can avoid it, wouldn't you say?
video;
[yeah he'll have to see it to believe it.]
I would, except I know exactly where it came from because I live there.
[Fucking. Anders. Why. Why did you have to do the thing.]

[That catches her a bit by surprise, his use of the past tense. He didn't know who she was, so she had been so sure he was like Fenris and Merrill, from far before anything terrible had happened in Kirkwall. Maybe she's understanding him wrong, there's always that, but she has to find some way to find out.
Just in case, she manages to lock the conversation to just the two of them. She'll have to thank Dorian for that information later.]
I'm sorry, I was never clear just when it was that Cassandra retrieved you. [Or stuffed him in a sack, as it were.] What state is Kirkwall in, Varric?

Kirkwall is shit but it's still standing. The guard is the only thing keeping it together. [Bless Aveline...] After the Circle broke, mages kept rising up all over the world.
That was a couple years ago. The Seeker was trying to figure out how it all started. What Hawke's role in it was.
... So she came for me.

[That's usually the kind of thought she'd keep to herself, but she never bothered with Varric. His thoughts on the whole thing are pretty clearly in line with her own at the moment and as she watches him rub his head she feels her own headache starting.]
I can't imagine she was very friendly. What did you tell her?
video; encrypted;
[He scowls at the memory. It's still fresh in his mind-- less than two months ago. Give Varric a chance to bitch and he will bitch endlessly.]
She could've had my head at any time and she made sure I knew it. I've had friendlier chats, is what I'm saying.
But I guess scaring the piss out of me and ruining literature just isn't enough for some people. Some people want to ruin lives on top of it. Drag other people into shit they have no business being involved in.
