[ The feed doesn't kick on until one of them is moving. Two separate people on Marsiva's hospitality deck, one clean cut and dressed in a rather sharp business suit while the other looks a bit rough and tumble in his polo and jeans and multiple piercings in his eyebrow, cartilage, lobe, etc., but they seem to have come together after waking. Jordan, the clean cut one, has his arms around Alex, the rough but handsome one who looks STARTLINGLY FAMILIAR, from behind and a head on his shoulder. ]

No. I'm looking at something. [ And it's true, he has his head tilted and a hand comes up to hold Alex's ear aside, and Jordan just huffs lightly before he lets go and holds on tight. ] How long were we asleep?

It's likely high. They attempt to make sure that no single ship has more passengers than the other. I've seen some instances of multiple people being transferred to the same ship from the Marsiva, but more often they're distributed evenly.

But they allow us to put in for ship transfers to undo that anyway. What's the point? He's mine, they don't get to take him away.

[blindoptimism]

[woah. possessive. It's their relationship, so she won't judge but... hm]

It's hard to say. But rest assured, you won't be apart for long.

The people who are in charge of this place are thoughtless. While they do not put us in any obvious danger, they obviously have no respect of our free will or priorities. [it's something that really irks her about their captors. every being deserves respect]

Not completely. When we find a way to leave, I'm sure we'll be able to return to the point that we arrived from. All of your things will be in tact, just as you left them?

Recently, many of us received one thing from home in return for completing a trial. [ah, but she thinks that she understands more what he means now]

I'm sorry, we already left that planet and the ship in the center of the fleet plots our course. I don't think we can go back. But hopefully we'll encounter another planet like that eventually. I know that's not much to go on... but they seem to have some interest in giving us items from home.

At least they knew better than to separate me from my most valuable belonging. ... still, if they put us on different ships as you said they might, I'll have to take that back.

Hm... you might also be able to speak to the pilot of weather ship you're stationed on. All ships are equipped with small pods to travel from ship to ship. You both can probably stay together before the transfer goes through that way?

[sensationate]

[ When she mentions the pods, Jordan realizes that he knows what she's talking about. That... is disturbing and achingly curious. ]

More and more, it sounds like the space between ships is artificial at best.

It's true. You spend more day to day time with the people on your ship, but it's easy to form friendships with people on other ships.

Then their premise must have some other element not quite as apparent.

[blindoptimism]

Hm, perhaps. [but she doesn't have any theories to present right away, so she leaves it at that]

Was there anything else that you wanted to know about this place?

There's no way to remove that thing behind our ears, right?

No, and the way that it's been implanted... it's incredibly unpleasant to attempt it. [that's putting it mildly]

That sounds like you're saying no one has tried hard enough because of that.

I... yes, I suppose so. Until we know that it would be safe to do so, I don't think anyone will remove it by force.

Who said anything about force?

Mm, I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. When I hear "tried hard enough" I imagine... someone attempting to push through the discomfort and remove their own implant with willpower.

But so far, it has seemed to be too dangerous for anyone to attempt.
