Who: Everyone
Broadcast: N/A
Action: Iskaulit
When:

[So we've been stuck on the poison moon for a couple months now, so a lot of people probably want to get away from that.

Unfortunately, the only place you really can get away from it besides your own ship is the Iskaulit. So, here's a June Iskaulit mingle!]
nerdeology: (you're not edna)

[ALREADY MAKING A GREAT IMPRESSION...]

You can't say something like that and then shrug it off!
nerdeology: (but lives are so fleeting)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-06-03 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh great, it's the Edna he didn't miss. He scowls at her for a moment, then irritably returns to his sewing.]

I don't really maintain it, I'm just helping out with a few of the details. Sorey did most of the construction, and he's the one who takes care of it.
nerdeology: (or you'll answer to me)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-06-03 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
Not really. There's no one here that worships the seraphim- certainly not me specifically.

[And he still doesn't consider what Sorey does to be worship, exactly. Respect, revere, openly commune and cooperate with- Sorey's relationship with the seraphim was unusual even before the Shepherd business went down.]

This is more of a proof of concept, I guess.
nerdeology: (what? i said nothing)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-06-03 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure no one's going to convert around here.

[How would one even go about doing that? Hard enough to remind people back home of the seraphim's importance, nevermind convincing someone who doesn't even know what they are.]
nerdeology: (but you're not alone)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-06-03 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Okay, that reminds him of Rose. He's too much of a realist to agree with her logic, but...]

You're quite the optimist about something you didn't even know existed a moment ago.
nerdeology: (over time the woman fell into despair)

The voice of experience? How so?
nerdeology: (i just know he likes telling stories.)

[did you say

a thousand years ago]

...Hold on a minute.

[He carefully sets down his needlework, folding the fabric in a neat pile beside his cushion.]
nerdeology: (oh right the hellion)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-06-03 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Then, with a flourishing gesture and a burst of light, he summons a small journal and a well-worn pencil out of nowhere into his now-free hands.]
nerdeology: (one of her was enough)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-06-03 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Finally, he hunkers down and leans, his expression serious and very interested.]

Okay, I'm ready- please, go on.
nerdeology: (it was a darker part of history)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-06-04 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
[Gurl, he almost liked you for about .5 seconds.]

History isn't boring. And if you didn't want to tell me, you should have said so in the first place!

[Excitement deflated somewhat. He was hoping it would be a good story, too.]

Anyway, you didn't introduce yourself, either. My name is Mikleo.
nerdeology: (i'm not mickey either)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-06-05 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
People don't look for opportunity in history. Its importance lies in experience, lessons learned from the success or failure of those who came before. History is how society progresses.
nerdeology: (YES they can have relations but)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-06-05 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. That's why it's important to take the time to study history more carefully and discern the truth for yourself, rather than just accept what you read at face value. The real story can be found by those who bother to dig for it.
nerdeology: (just don't get on our bad sides)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-06-05 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
I refuse to believe that it's ever impossible to find the truth. No matter how hard people may try to erase what happened just because it's inconvenient, there are always clues buried somewhere.
nerdeology: (i wouldn't threaten a soul)

[personal profile] nerdeology 2016-06-05 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
People in general, sure. The wider populace don't have the time or inclination to go digging for more- they have their own lives to lead, and it's easier to just accept what they hear and move on. Legends do have their place in society, regardless of the actual truth behind the tales.

But true historians aren't interested what's more dramatic. History is more than just pretty words.
