[ The video starts suddenly, with Caitlin sitting straight up, eyes open and wide with fear.

More than what's warranted with waking up in a strange place.

Her head bows, her eyes going directly to her wrists. It seems she's checking both of them, rubbing absently at them, as if she expected to find something. (Shackles or handcuffs, that's what she's looking for.) If she's reassured there's nothing there, she certainly doesn't look it. When she looks back up, her gaze sweeping around the room, she's trying to place where she is, what's happened. This isn't Barry's lab at CCPD, it isn't STAR Labs, and it definitely isn't Zoom's lair.

It's a few minutes before she looks right into the camera, her head tilting with curiosity. ] Hello?

[ Then the feed cuts out. ]

[ The text follows about ten minutes later. ]

This is going to sound odd, but: whoever or whatever brought me here, thank you. I need to get back to Central City, though.

[ he feels hollow all of the sudden. this is like eobard all over again, the betrayal, believing lies and mirages, the broken trust, the fact that those bastards seem to always be one step ahead of them.

and the truth of cisco's powers growing stronger, somehow. ]

tell me we didn't give him Barry's speed. there had to be another way.

[ Why couldn't they have this talk in person? Why did she have to be stuck on this ship? Her friend is hurting, she can tell that, even with a different face.

Her chest hurts. ]

There wasn't time. And ... we both know Barry.

...We'll fix this, Caitlin. I promise.

[ it's not a promise he should be able to make but if she's here and he's here, then they can fix this. they can go back to central city and make this right. anything so Caitlin won't look so devastated. ]

I'll find a way to get us home, we'll get Barry's speed back and we'll beat Jay - Zoom, whatever that psycho's name is.

There isn't a way to fix this. We can't.

[ Admitting it, saying it out loud — that's the straw that broke the camel's back. She can't hold it back any more; she already feels heartsick and sick sick. Her eyes close, tears running freely down her face as her shoulders shake.

It's safe here, relatively speaking. She doesn't have to keep a brave face. ]

Caitlin - hi come on. It's me, I'm here. I'll make sure you're taken care of until we go back and we'll fix it, we always fix it.

[ he wants to reach through the device and hug her. whatever it is that's going back home, if it's bad enough to make caitlin break, it's bound to terrifying and horrible ]

[ She just shakes her head, over and over and over again. ]

Barry's gone,Cisco. He's gone. Jay didn't tell me how, just that he was.

[ a second of stunned silence and then ]

he lies Caitlin. He wants to bring you down, he's lying to you. Barry's not gone. Everything Jay - him told us was a lie.

I-I [ She takes a hiccuping breath. ] I want to believe that. But he brought over an army of metahumans from Earth-2. I could hear them downstairs, hear him downstairs. He said our world was defenseless.

He's a liar, Caitlin, he lies to everyone, he's lying to them, too and he lied to you. He wants us to think Barry is gone, but he isn't. We'll find him and we'll stop Jay.

[ and with even more conviction ]

I won't let him hurt you anymore.

[ There's some sense in what he's saying. It's hard to put away that endlessly hopeless feeling that had filled her before, and it would certainly be a lot easier if Cisco was here and she could lean on him.

But it may be a while before she can do that. So she'll wipe her face with the back of her hand, try to focus beyond this. ]

Okay. I — okay.

Right. ok so the asshole atorma people will make you stay on the Marsiva for a few more days but then you'll be assigned to one of the crew and I'm going to come see you, ok?

[ trying to make her smile, he suggests ]

we can do each other's hair or something.

Okay. Yeah, someone else had mentioned more "freedom" once I'm off this ship. Freedom being a relative term.

[ His suggestion definitely gets a smile. It's small and fragile, but it's there. ]

How unfair is it that you've still got better hair than me?

Hey it is nice, right? Wish I could get it this soft in my guy-form.

[ ... ]

is it weird that we're having this conversation? maybe it's a bit weird.

Weird? Maybe. But probably not any weirder than arguing about how many bugs Barry [ her voice breaks over his name, but she keeps going. ] swallows in an average day.
