[All aboard the Pathstone, where they really don't need their augments to make them any more screwed up than they are, but there you go.]

[he'd guessed that she'd be fairly easy to read, but she manages to project herself even clearer than he'd hoped. it's reassuring, really, and he doesn't try to hide the fact that he glances down at the tension displayed in her hands.

folding his arms, he leans lightly against the wall, perfectly at ease.]

I'm the captain, actually. [neglecting to mention Crowley oops] ...And I don't think we've properly introduced ourselves, have we?

[It isn't that he's particularly intimidating, or even that she's afraid, really. Her magic will be more than enough to keep her alive and if worse came to worst, she could open a rift and trap him in the fade. Easiest would be to hit him with lightning, or freeze him solid.

The problem is she has no desire to make enemies here, and she'd like to avoid a confrontation, but he seems quite determined to show up and put her on edge. Her titles give her power, Inquisitor Lavellan, Herald of Andraste, but that's another thing she'd like to avoid having to use. Still, thinking it lets her stand taller, hands relaxing at her sides now. Her fingers are spread the smallest amount, ready to fry him if he tries anything.]

[he simply delights in all of the tiny, veiled details in her expression. at least she seems sharp, interesting--even though he guesses that they likely have very little in common.

he's never let that stop him before, however. a little conflict can be so much fun.]

And you may call me Tek. Apparently, I'm some sort of 'personnel support' officer. [he nods back down the hall, in the direction of his room.] Which is why my name is on that door.

[Curiosity has always been her downfall, and that doesn't change now. Personnel support is a title she's never heard before, and she wants to know what it means, what it is that Tek does on this ship. If they're to be in such close quarters, with him apparently acting as captain as well, it's something she should know.

She notes his room with little interest, but keeps any comments about not needing to ever know where he sleeps to herself. It would be petty, get her nowhere. There's no reason to make the tension between them worse.]

What is it that a personnel support officer does, exactly?

[he gives a light shrug. because hell if he knows anything more about the station than she does.

not that this will stop him from forming an opinion on it anyway, of course.]

As far as I've managed to gather, some of us are given a little more freedom in our duties than others.

I think it's open to interpretation.

Which is a fancy way of saying you don't know.

From the sound of it, I should think it has something to do with helping the people who live on this ship with you.

If our overlords' primary goal was for us to work together in peace and harmony, maybe.

[She could harp on that, accuse him of skirting around the point so endlessly, but it's becoming clear he really has no interest in being helpful to her right now.]

If it's not, I'd say that's even more of a reason to work together. From what I've gathered so far no one on this ship is very interested in actually doing their jobs.

--Jobs which we have been assigned without any given consent whatsoever.

...I don't typically bow to the whims of those who try to plot out the course of my life for themselves.

That's fine for you to say, but if doing your job keeps the people here alive I would hope that would be enough incentive for anyone.

Oh... Don't worry. I sincerely doubt that my job has anything to do with keeping people alive.

I was speaking more generally. Would you care if you did have a hand in us living or dying?

...I get the feeling that you're trying to imply something, with a question like that.

That might speak to some paranoia, then. It was an honest question.
