[Video starts with... that sure is Loki. But there's something subtly weird about his expression. There's nothing guarded or calculated about it, a slight relaxation of ever-present tension that was never apparent before, perhaps. The best poker face in all Nine Realms is nowhere to be seen. If anything, he looks upset. Confused, worried, a bit scared. And he's out in the forest on the toxic moon, which is just great, let him tell you. No mask, but he's never needed one before, not that he's aware of that, or of the fact that most people have to wear them.]

Hello? Yes, this seems to be working. What a curious device. [Anyway. The point.]

I seem to be lost. Very lost. Where is this?

[A view of the forest, brief but steady.]

And--[Careful breath.]--who am I?

[Lucky Loki, his augment has glitched and while he remembers how to do things--and the occasional esoteric fact--he has no idea who he is. Good news--or bad news depending on your opinion of his usual space asshole personality--he'll get over it in about a week.

Even if no one comes find him, he'll make his way back to civilization eventually and be very confused about life and where he's even supposed to be. Good thing he's practically indestructible. But eventually, he will be around on the Paisley, and on the Iskaulit, poking about.]

[Well, this could be a problem. He's either faking it - not unheard of - or he's a thousand-year-old sorcerer with no idea what he's doing. On the other hand--

The Vision remembers a Calibration room, a frightened child, and an exchange of stories.]

Have you found your way back yet, or would you prefer some guidance?

[Oh hello, mysterious voice. You sound friendly at least.]

I'm still quite lost.

Are you still in the forest? It can be unsafe, and it's difficult for a shuttle to land there.

[His Communications officer should be able to help him triangulate the signal, if so.]

Yes, I am still in the forest. I don't know how I came to be here.

What is unsafe about it?

The water is toxic and not to be touched or ingested. [It might be fine for Loki, really, but no use taking chances.] Be careful where you walk as there may be pits or sinkholes. There was a boy who disturbed a bear and had to climb to safety some weeks ago as well.

I don't suppose you can tell which way you came from to retrace your steps?

All right. I shall be aware of all of those things. [Why is he even out here to begin with? That's the bigger question.]

I... Don't believe so. I don't see any footprints.

I'll find you, in that case.

[Hmm. Well, if even he doesn't know where he is, the fastest way to find him might be by air. Once he's close enough, it doesn't actually take long to find Loki--it's an ability he doesn't use much, but the Mind Stone was connected to him once before.

There. Loki's mind makes an unmistakable signature, though the Vision isn't quite qualified to tell if the supposed amnesia is actually real or not; either way, the sight of him hovering down to land is one of power.]

Thank you? [How?]

[Loki stays where he is, though he ends up closely inspecting the bark of a particularly anemic tree because it's fascinating, so when Vision does show up he's crouched down, leaning into the trunk, and apparently talking to it.

But he does feel something, a presence of some sort, and straightens to look up. This is new, but everything is new. For all he knows, everyone can fly. Maybe he can fly too, and he's just forgotten. Now that's an interesting thought. And one he can consider much more comfortably now that he's no longer lost.

Which is why the first thing out of his mouth is:] Oh that looks fun. Can I fly too?

[It made sense in his head.]

[You really don't want to know, Amnesia-Loki.

The question, not something he would have expected, makes his lips quirk up into a smile in spite of who he's talking to.]

Not that I'm aware of, though I suppose you could try. We'll likely have to walk; the nearest town is that way.

[Yeah the forest is too thick to let a shuttle land, so walking is their best option. Unless Loki can actually fly. The Vision wouldn't put it past him.]

I would like to try!

[Er.]

How does one do that?

Instinctively in my case, though frankly all those I've known with the ability to fly access that power differently. I think you'll find you can do a great many things if you but try - although I'm not at all certain flight is one of them.

[He gestures back in the direction of the town.]

Walking is a perfectly acceptable alternative, however.

I suppose if I knew it instinctively, I would have already been flying about instead of climbing those trees as the lady on the communicator instructed me to do. [Well, crud.]

What ought I try?

[But he will start walking.]

[The forest is thick above but clear enough here at ground level that they don't have a problem walking. it's a good question, though - aside from illusions, he's not exactly sure what Loki can really do with his powers.]

You're already compensating for the toxins in the air. If you concentrate on being able to move further with every step, perhaps that would work as well. I'll keep up.

Can't everyone do that? [Vision seems find, and he hasn't seen anyone else. But all right, that's an interesting thought. He focuses on a distant point, considering how to get there faster, and he can feel the energies around. It's more instinct than anything that makes him mentally grasp and twist, teleporting between the two points, just a short distance.]

Hm. That isn't flying.

It's impressive nonetheless. [He calls it out and then floats over quickly.] I cannot teleport, as you just have. All persons are different in their own way.

There are all sorts of other energies that I might see, but that seemed the most to do with distant points. Hm.

It's quite possible you could do the same over a long distance, though I'd imagine it would be safer if you could see where you are going first. This should make it a bit faster, however. We're not far from town.

I don't know how I would do that without knowing where I was going. I'll have to think about it.

[Another little teleportation blip. He laughs happy. This is fun, being able to take one step and cross such distance. Though when his new friend catches up, he reaches a bit further back in the conversation and asks:]

Why is everyone different?

I've no doubt you could find a way.

[The Vision will be the first to admit he isn't familiar at all with Loki, but that laugh - there's something so innocent about that laugh he can't help but believe the amnesia is real.

That and his lack of hostility, really.]

It is the nature of things. We are each different so we may complement each others' strengths.

Do you think so? [Maybe. He'd need to think about it for a bit and understand the mechanism he's using for short distances first. But it's... an interesting problem. He's already discovered that he likes interesting problems.]

Whose strengths do I compliment?

I do. The principle is the same as for a shorter jump. [Well, as long as he knows what the destination looks like, Kurt can do it easily. No reason Loki couldn't, even if his technique is wildly different.]

You're clever, very good at solving complex problems, and skilled in magic. Your complement would be someone physically strong and steadfast who can distract an opponent while you work your skills.

[Mutter:] Finding a point in space...

Am I? You seem to know quite a bit about me from such a short meeting. [Not suspicious exactly, but he feels like he's missing out on something and it itches.]

That's in important first step, yes. You shouldn't want to teleport into vacuum, for example.

[He nods, seemingly not concerned.] I am a friend of your brother, the physically strong and steadfast warrior Thor.

[He knows, oddly, what that is. Curious. But:] Yes, that would be bad.

...I have a brother? Where is he?

[Good, because explaining space when they all live on ships would be a bit much.]
