What do you mean? What is he driving himself crazy over? [What do you know, Kirk?]

[ He looks at her raises his brows. ]

He has the project with the imitation solar energy, for one, and I'm fairly sure he has some project in mind for trying to get everyone home - their real homes, the lecture series he wants to start, not to mention plenty of other little ones I'm sure.

[ He's noticed Winn looks like he's sleeping less and seems more tired. It makes him worry, and they've talked about it, so he's a little less worried, but one talk didn't fix every problem. ]

If anyone can make him take a break for a bit it's you, Kitty.

[She's quiet a moment taking in Kirk's concerns. She knew there was a long list and she's involved in some of those projects too. And he still surprises her with things as if he has all the time in the world, but there's only so much and they already spend a considerable amount of it together. How hard can he be working? She'll find out when she realizes he's been sneaking out of bed regularly.]

Apparently you've heard me using my relaxation techniques on him.

[ He chuckled. ]

And they sound like they work really well. So keep up the good work.

[ He just wants everyone well, as much as anyone else. Helping each other is well and good, but at the cost of your own health - well, if you're sick you can't be inventing things, right? ]

No intention of quitting. He's in good hands. [And other assorted parts.]
universal_charm: (I got this)

[personal profile] universal_charm 2016-06-23 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
[ He can only imagine. He's happy for Winn - and Kitty - really. It's always good when two people can be together and really like each other, in his opinion. ]

Good. I'm counting on you, Kitty.

[ He has a soft spot for Winn, okay? ]
passingthrough: (Curious - Wondering)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-06-23 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's love, but apparently they don't go around declaring that to other people. Sascha was pretty surprised when she mentioned it.]

Yeah? You really watch out for your crew, don't you? [She didn't realize he and Winn were that close. Usually when Winn mentioned Kirk it was in a jealous way, but other than Kara being displeased with him, he hadn't come up much lately. They can get pretty distracted with...relaxation techniques though.]

[ He blinked at her, giving a small shrug. ]

I try my best. Crew is your family, after all.

passingthrough: (Thoughtful)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-06-26 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
I usually think "team" but yeah. [She also doesn't usually admit as much aloud even if she feels it. Sometimes she feels like a silly girl trying to rebuild a family she lost seven years ago. And then she loses the new ones too.]
universal_charm: (Default)

[personal profile] universal_charm 2016-06-27 05:34 am (UTC)(link)

Well, potato - po-tah-toe.

[ A small shrug, because in the end they both meant the same thing, right? ]

A captain is supposed to look out for his crew - his family. Even if I wasn't, I'd do the same.

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-06-29 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
So, does that make me part time family or just the annoying guest? [Smirking a bit to hide the feelings that want to bubble up.]

[ He purses his lips as if giving it thought. ]

Sister-in-law. Family by association.

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-07-09 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess I can accept that, but the big question, do I need to get you something over Hanukkah for that?
universal_charm: (Default)

[personal profile] universal_charm 2016-07-10 06:05 am (UTC)(link)

Well, it would be the polite thing to do. Hint - I really like non-fiction books.

passingthrough: (Curious - Interested)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-07-11 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll keep that in mind. [She looks amused, but it turns to interest.] What kind? [Less because she has any intention of getting him one and more because she also likes non-fiction books. Well, she likes fiction sometimes too, but she's been more interested in non.]

[personal profile] universal_charm 2016-07-13 06:23 am (UTC)(link)

History, mostly, but I like true-crime or biographies too.

passingthrough: (Gentle - Longing)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-07-29 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm. I'm trying to decide if that surprises me. I think it might. Not the true crime so much but the rest. I thought you'd go for action or mysteries.

[personal profile] universal_charm 2016-08-01 05:28 am (UTC)(link)

Hah, well, my life is kind of an action novel and I hate mysteries.

History has a lot to teach us, and I think it's important to know where you came from. And of course reading more in depth on the people in history is always fun.

passingthrough: (Smile)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-08-07 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Hate mysteries? Actual hate? Huh. I'm not sure what to make of that. [But she looks at him curiously as if this will sort it out for her.]

But okay, I'll buy the history thing. Probably also helps with people here.
universal_charm: (Default)

[personal profile] universal_charm 2016-08-15 04:06 am (UTC)(link)

Well, to a degree. I like the notion of there being things to discover as a sort of mystery, but things like murder mysteries? Not for me.

Yeah, it can, but in general I like it. It's a good thing to know where you've come from, so you learn what to do right, and what not to repeat.

passingthrough: (Thoughtful)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-08-21 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
I used to be with someone who solved murder mysteries for a living. Interesting stuff. But I can see not wanting it in your fiction.

My grandpa used to talk about things from his past a lot for that reason. The history reasons.
universal_charm: (Default)

[personal profile] universal_charm 2016-08-22 03:46 am (UTC)(link)

I like things being solved, I should say. I don't like it when we can't get answers, you know?

They're important. They have a lot to teach us - both warnings as well as lessons of hope and perseverance.

passingthrough: (Smoking - Lighting Up)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-09-17 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't the answers fall into place in mystery novels though? Everything wrapped up with a neat bow by the end. Sherlock leaving no stone unexplained. [Stones require lots of explaining, okay?]

Shades of things to come. [Hitler was minor leagues compared to Apocalypse who spread a much larger net for genocide, experimentation, and devastation.]
