_{[ The Iskaulit was nice, but sometimes you needed to work out your
issues privately. So he had worked on making a nice gym for himself. He was
fairly sure he was the only one who really used it too, though he was
slowly getting Winn in here more. Small steps. ]}

No, that works fine. I did stretches already myself. So, you want to do this by touches or whomever cries uncle first?

[As tempting as the second one was...] Might be smartest to start with just touches to indicate a serious strike, since we are not sure what each other can do. [Even if she was quietly confident, but Mystique was always quietly confident, no matter who she was against. She knew her limitations, it was just a matter of finding out her opponents'.]

_{[ He grinned at her, showing off his own confidence where Mystique's was quiet. He didn't outright brag, but like many males he walked with his shoulders set and a certain roll to his stride. He took up a place on the matt, stretching his arms as he waited for Mystique to take her spot. ]}

Let's keep each other to the matts too. I don't fancy crashing into the extra equipment.

[Yes, it was signs she was all too use to recognizing in men, having been around many who were so confident in their abilities and selves. She was use to playing the 'weaker sex', using it against those who automatically assumed she was unable to fight or defend herself, making them underestimate her.

Yet she wasn't here to seriously hurt or kill Kirk, or anyone on the fleet, as tempting as it was at times.] As you wish. [It said as she stepped onto the mat, eyeing up to see what stance he would take, if any, to fight, she herself not taking any just yet, waiting to react instead.]

_{[ Kirk learned a long time ago not to underestimate women - he never really had. And since Mystique was wanting to spar, well, he took that seriously for all his confidence. He was confident in his own skills, not the lack of Mystique's.

He took a breath and shifted, adopting a stance that did not seem immediately offense or defensive. His legs were spread for balance, facing Mystique sideways, arms raised but loose. Kirk didn't like to be the aggressor - violence was a last resort where he came from, though it had been used all to much as of late in his life, both back home and here. Still, he stuck with what he was trained with. ]}

Ready whenever you are, Mystique.

[So it was going to be that way. Though Mystique did give him credit for also taking on such a stance, waiting for her to act first. And if that was what it would take.

Stepping forward she shot out a hand kept in a knife blade hold, fingers all outstretched and held together, thumb tucked in against her palm, and aimed it at his neck. She wasn't planning on landing the shot, instead waiting for him to block it so she could reach out and grab his arm. Depending which one he used she would either put him into an arm lock or throw him over her shoulder.

And if he dodged instead, which would be her personal choice, Mystique would advance the attack more so.]

_{[ Kirk was naturally someone who tended to react in fights like this. He could take action first when he had to, but mostly his training involved being defensive rather than outright assaulting. He saw her attach coming, pivoting to put himself at the further end of the range of the swing even as he reached up to block. He followed it with a quick shuffle step in, thrusting out with his elbow, aimed at her face.

If she was going for the throat right off, well, he wasn't going to hold back either. ]}

[And dodging it was, Mystique correcting her footing to prevent her from overreaching her strike as he moved away from her. Letting his block stop her, she caught a glance of the motion of the elbow early on in it's movement, allow her body to just drop to the ground so it went over her head. From down there she swung her leg around, aiming to sweep his out from under him.]

_{[ Despite his efforts, her leg caught one of his feet. He didn't fight
the fall or wave his arms around like a fool. Rather he let himself go down
as well, but instead of the move Mystique had pulled off he thrust himself
into a backwards somersault of sorts. He righted himself and got distance
between them in one motion, reassuming his position from the start of the
fight only a few seconds ago. He grinned at Mystique and twitched his head
in the gesture for 'bring it' without sacrificing the position of his
hands. ]}

[Allowing her momentum to continue through the kick and roll her body weight over her shoulder, Mystique crouched low to the ground on all fours as she snapped her head around to find him. As he moved to stand back up in his starting position she did the same, taking a moment to brush down her outfit as once again she eyed up his stance.] Not bad. [Ah, flexible and cocky, both something to watch out for.]

Why thank you. My instructors would be pleased to hear it. Possibly my doctor too.

_{[ Words said, he does several little quick steps in and begins an
assault - sharp jabs and controlled swings, making sure to turn and angle
his body as he did so to present the least amount of target points. He was
no amateur to simply leave himself open. For now he doesn't bring in leg
moves - still warming up, you know. ]}
