I know what you mean. [ he nods. ok, people aren't usually trying to kill him (though at times it felt like they were toying with the notion), but being so universally liked and accepted is a bizarre feeling for him, much as it's a welcomed one. ]

People didn't really like me that much back home either.

But....why?? You're amazing! [ And super-cuddly. What's not to like there, Captain Nobeard?? ] You do high-fives and teach me stuff and everything!

[ he smiles a little and shakes his head. he's not going to get into his family drama, and there were plenty of other reasons people disliked him for anyway. ]

I'm a nerd, it means I get really excited about things other people think are boring. And I tend to try really hard to be people's friend, which a lot of them don't like. And I'm not in the best of shape - [ ok, he's a wimp ] so that makes a lot of people look down at me. I'm not what people back home expect me to be, basically. [ he's not manly enough. ]

So when I got here and everyone was nice, and wanted to be my friend - I wasn't sure what to do with it either.

That's just like me.... [ Well, except for like 90% of that. He means the part about arriving here and being completely disoriented by everyone's kindness. ]

Everyone hates vampire back home--humans always want us dead. But here no one...really minds. Even when I tell them, they don't hate me.

Because it's nothing to be hated over. What matters is who you are, Sascha, not what. And who you are is pretty great.
