I know you can't stop looking, that you can't stop seeing these things, but just try and not think about them to much. Life's needs its little surprises.
[ He wrapped his arms around his shoulders and leaned down, touching his forehead to Leto's. ]

Hmm - how about some of your favorite things? Or maybe a dream, some place you'd like to visit someday, about how good a kisser I am...
[ The last is said with a little grin, teasing the other. ]
no subject
Favourite things . . . I've never had favourite things. How do you prefer a thing over another?
no subject
[ Well, that was an interesting question, wasn't it? ]
You know, I'm not really sure? But I know that I prefer the Enterprise over the Tourist, and that I like history books over fantasy, and that I prefer apples and pancakes over cauliflower and pork chops.
I'm sure you have things like that - things if given a choice you would choose without hesitation.
no subject
When the choice presents itself. I can't recall a time when it did. I liked . . . flying. Piloting. My father liked it so I lived vicariously through his skills. I used to terrify my stepmother that way.
no subject
I don't think we really think about how we came to prefer something. We just... do.
[ He laughed at the thought of Leto terrifying his parent, brushing his thumb across the curve of his cheekbone. ]
I used to do things like that too, to get back at my uncle. I drove a car off a quarry cliff once, actually. I can't imagine what I would have done if I could have piloted something.

[ He leans into that touch. ] We almost got swallowed by a worm. It rose up below us and swallowed the ship. I managed to escape at the last moment.

[ He continued to stroke his cheek, though his other hand poked him in the chest lightly. ]
Let me tell my story, thank you. And it was a police robot, really, not a policeman.
[ He grinned though, laughing at Leto's tale. ]
Really? That definitely sounds like something I would have done. How did you escape?
no subject
I managed to push the thrusters to their highest capacity before it closed its jaws on us. My aunt was most displeased.
no subject
Ah, the narrow escape kind. Those always make for the best stories, don't you think?
If your aunt's reaction was anything like the brass's during a few of my close calls, I can only imagine.

See, both excellent reasons to go out and nearly get eaten by something, if you ask me.
no subject
[ He stretches. ] I wonder what you'll see at the edge of the universe?
no subject
I couldn't begin to imagine it. And in truth... I don't want to try. I want to be surprised - right up until the very end.
no subject
Me too.
no subject
[ He sees it, drinking in because it really does suit him. He bent over, kissing it softly, briefly. ]
Not getting enough surprises here?
no subject
I do, but I still have constraints. And I suppose deep down, I worry. I don't want to falter.
no subject
[ Oh, he liked that purr, and he kissed again, nibbling at his lower lip upside down briefly. ]
Faltering isn't bad, Leto. That's part of any life experience, and expecting you to be perfect - that's not fair. It would be rather boring, actually.
no subject
No, perfection sounds like a dull ambition. But there is so much I need to do.
no subject
[ He shivered at the touch of his fingers, smiling as he kissed the tip of his chin. ]
All in good time though.
no subject
no subject
Yes. Absolutely.
[ He's said with warm conviction, moving to touch their foreheads together. ]
no subject
Then I shall believe.
no subject
Good. Belief is definitely a good thing. And if you ever find yourself without enough, come and see me. I'm told I'm quite the optimist.
