[She securely curls her hand into the back of his shirt and whispers.] Keep going. [When they get to the door. You're phased, buddy. The vampire too. DO NOT DROP HIM.]

[ HE'S NOT GOING TO DROP HIM OMG he would not pick him up if he couldn't do it! actually, getting to walk through the door - and not being led through it for once - is so exciting it gives him a little adrenaline boost that makes said vampire feel a little lighter.

he looks at kitty to make sure they have the all clear before carefully putting him down on the bed and pulling the covers over him.

he leans over to kitty to whisper in her ear. ]

This suddenly get weird for you too? [ it can't just be him, right? he's tucking him in. in her bed. that they share. fleet, stop trying to force him into fatherhood! ]

[Whispering in turn.] My life would have to be normal at some point for me to notice it getting weird. [She gives Winn a soft, chaste kiss. Her eyes skim back to Sascha, wanting to be sure he is still asleep before they slip out again.]

[ he remembers life being normal. it wasn't that great; he had one friend and pop culture to keep him company and he was still sadly pining and losing out to douchey online matches. a little weirdness is pretty awesome. it's all a matter of balance.

he hangs back, waiting for kitty to tell him what to do, what she needs here. it's a very awkward day to be him. ]

[She quietly grabs some new clothes from the day and then nods to him before reaching out to take his hand and lead him back outside her room.] Look at you. Such a good father.

Sure, when they care of themselves -

[ can you tell he's uncomfortable? he's really uncomfortable. he pulls her in for a hug. ]

How're you doing? [ he knows this can't have been easy. she had to be there for sascha, he gets to be there for her. ]

[ that makes him smile; it's just like kitty to worry about him when she should be worrying about herself. ]

Well currently, a bad case of my girlfriend trying to comfort me about things that happen to her. [ and, those things that happen to her. and, that mention of how parental that whole scene was because he really is not ready for that, not even close. ]

It didn't technically happen to me [yet] what with me being all warm and safe in your arms.

[ It's not going to, he answers in his head, holding her tighter in those arms. over his dead and rotten corpse. ]

I'm gonna count that as you just called me hot.

[ smiling; having to talk to sascha had to be heavy. he doesn't want to make things heavy again if she doesn't want to talk about it for herself. ]

[She was actually pretty okay? She was touched by how much Sascha cared. Worried about him. Sad that he was hurting. But upset for herself? Not as much. She's may still have some issues to work out about her death, but they're mostly about Piotr's betrayal. She hasn't really died after all.]

[ he kisses the top of her head, and sways a little bit, just trying every trick he's got to make her feel warm, cared for, loved, and happy. ]

[She smiles because she likes this even if it is unnecessary.] I really am okay. I'd tell you. I would. It's sweet and sad that he cares so much.

I get that it's sad that he's hurting - but why's it sad that he cares?

[ it feels like an odd thing to say. ]

It just reminds me of how few people have cared about him. I know it's part of why he clings so tightly. [And she definitely knows something about clinging tightly.]

He's got the best people caring about him now. [ and by that he means kitty and kara. ] Now's what matters.

We are kind of the best, aren't we? [She should know better. She really should. But she truly believes he was finally including himself.]

Yeah, [ he smiles, booping her nose. she really should. ] you really are. [ and he's so lucky to have them in his life too. he and sascha both hit the jackpot here. ]

[She laughs and leans in for a kiss that comes with a tug on the front of his shirt. She keeps her hand there even as she pulls away, looking more thoughtfully at him..] Hey, are you okay? You haven't had as much time to deal with...you know, me. Home. Stuff.

[ he returns the kiss, and almost pouts when she pulls away.

that question...is complicated. he doesn't have an easy answer, and the dilemma of what to say can be recognized, if she looks hard enough. ]

I'm okay. [ he finally answers, nodding. he's scared, miserable sometimes, confused, hurt, freaked, every emotion she can imagine - but he's also okay. he's functioning. and most of the time, even happy. ]

I think you might be using the loosest definition for that. But I can trust that you mean it's as good as it can be and you'll tell me if you want to talk, right?

[ he smiles, and then shrugs. ]

I don't really know what else to say. Especially - in the middle of the hallway. [ it's not that he's ethically opposed to telling her how he feels - it's that burdening someone is pulling teeth for him. and in public? forget about it. ]

Where do you want to be that isn't a hallway? [Not that they have to keep talking about this, but relocating is probably good. Too bad they don't have some living room with comfy couches. It's all very space ship-y.]
