[You know, Clay hadn't been expecting a day like this. All he was doing was going to the Iskaulit to do some workouts in the gym, even bopping to a tune playing in his head.

Of course, that all comes a stop when he sees the mess before he sees anyone else. Blood trailing through the hallway, like someone had been walking with it. His stomach churns a bit, and his first instinct is to flee and get someone with medical help. Like Jennifer, or Beverly, or...

But no, he's here, and he... doesn't really realize just how bad it is yet. He returns to his shuttle first to grab the first-aid box, then heads in to see who needs his help.

And upon following the trail, well... Turns out, it's a lot worse than he thought it'd be, and that instinct from before comes back full force. He's only had some lessons, he's not prepared for this level of medical trauma, he really isn't -

And that's why he'll be calling out on the comms - not video, because there are kids on the network, but it's pretty clear by the state of his shaky voice that this is definitely an emergency.]

I-I need doctors - healers, medics -

[He takes in a deep breath - ]

I need all medical personnel to the Iskaulit right now!

[Cole doesn't really want to upset Anders by being there, but he can't stay away when he can help. Barely visible, hiding from most people but visible to spirit mediums and spirit healers.

He drifts closer to Anders and as he does, his eyes take on the same brilliance as Anders' magic. His voice is still a soft murmur, lacking the echo that some spirits have.]

I can help. I can make your healing work better, faster, less effort, less lingering.

[He feels like there would be a justified 'told you so' from Cole here, but the fact the spirit doesn't say it or anything like it actually endeared him to Anders a bit. That was the last thing he wanted when he'd been so adamantly against coming in the first place.

But now that he was here, it would be selfish to say no and deny these people the best help they could receive. He glances to Cole and offers a small smile, aware it might seem to whoever was around he'd simply lost his mind, smiling and talking to no one. But, honestly, who cared?]

I would appreciate that, thank you, Cole.

[It never passes Cole's mind to say I told you so. People need help and so he's here to help. He can help Anders help, so that's what he's here for.

He lets himself hide less, coming in close to Anders' side. Cole resonates a soft peachy yellow, an energy far more focused and directed than most Compassion spirits.]

There was a you here before. We saved a desert cat together. It was nice.

[Cole's energy feels warm to him and, more than that, strong. Far stronger than that of spirits he'd dealt with before. It even makes him feel warmer inside, but maybe that was his depletion of mana getting to him.]

A desert cat, really? I wish I could remember that, it sounds nice.

[He finishes up with this patient and moves on to the next.]

Cole considers himself a weak spirit. Fairly insignificant. But he was still a spirit who managed to wrench itself through the Veil on its own accord. And he has actively worked in his purview since then. He's probably a lot more powerful than he realises.

[He drifts along behind Anders, being there, offering energy and ease in the healing.]

No. Why would it offend me?

[He shrugs as best he can with his hands 'full.']

Because, I'm fairly good at it, back home. I say something and it annoys or offends. Sometimes I try to do it, but often times it happens even when I'm trying not to.

[And what Cole had said had dug at him, he wouldn't be surprised if he'd let his shiny veneer slip in their conversation and he said something sharp instead.]

But, if I didn't then that works too, makes things easier.

[A pause.]

You enjoy helping people, don't you? Being Compassion, I imagine it makes you feel pretty good too.

I wasn't offended.

[Cole is incredibly difficult to offend. It's virtually unheard of.]

Yes. I help people. It's why I'm here. I like helping them and most people like to be helped. They don't enjoy hurting. But... I can't help everyone. And... there's people that even I can't understand or forgive. I don't like that that's true, but it is.

[That makes Anders smile a bit.]

Sounds very human of you. I don't know if that's a good thing, but it seems normal to me.

But you don't have to understand or forgive someone to help them. [He shrugs, thoughts drifting to Ogrhen and Velanna and how he always seemed at odds with them, but they'd defended him and he'd healed them.

But then he thought of the templars who'd dragged him to Vigil's Keep. He hadn't helped them when they needed it. No, he hadn't killed them, but he certainly didn't lift a finger to help them, only to save his own hide. He didn't regret it.]

And sometimes you don't have to help them. If you have the ability to help people, you shouldn't be made to feel obligated to use them on everyone just 'because' or some fool thing like 'duty.'

[I don't know if it's good. Or bad. Or just is. More human is something that usually doesn't come naturally to me, but the fact that that does is good!

In theory, Cole understands he doesn't have to help anyone. He had refused to see the point of view of the Templar who killed him, even though now, with less anger, he does see that the man had been genuinely distraught at Cole's death.]

I want to help people. Even if other people don't think they're worth helping. Even if they don't think they are. It's not about duty. It's who I am. I help. Because I can and because I want to help people.

Except Lambert. He was evil. He had to die. I made him look into my eyes as I did it, so he would know. His evil wasn't going to be protected by rules and tradition. I wasn't going to let him hurt all those mages, like he hurt Rhys and Pharamond.

[He didn't know what Cole was talking about, but it didn't really matter. What mattered was what he was saying. Anders studied Cole a minute, unsure what else to say but then he smiles and stands from his latest and last patient.]

I like you, Cole. You're a good person...er..Spirit. Whatever you are, you're a good sort. [And to try and avoid being questioned on this offered assessment:]

I think that's all the damage we can fix, don't you? These people will be better now.

[The distraction works, Cole looks around the people, humming softly to himself and then nodding and rocking on his feet.]

Yes. We can make the physical pain better.
