Action: the Blameless. warning for injury treatment, probably.
When: June 7th, shortly after this

[This is the second time in the span of seven days that Erik has had to pilot a shuttle while his vision isn't a hundred percent. It's almost a pattern, he thinks blearily to himself. Different causes, though. As the shuttle docks with the Blameless, he can't help but blow out a breath.

First step done. Now to get out.]

[the words "I'm fine" better not come out of either of their mouths or Hank won't apologize for what happens.

He glances down as Charles goes limp with a worried frown, before he quickens their pace just a little. The lab was only a few more feet away]

That doesn't tell me anything.

[He grumbles.] You're the doctor, that's your job.

[ Softly. ] Erik, please.

[oh my god]

And you're the patient, so answer my damn questions.

[oops, he's mad. But it isn't really directed at Erik] I'm trying to keep you talking, so talk.

Fuck-- [He mutters, venting some of his frustration. Not at Hank, but he's the one instigating the conversation, so he gets to hear it. He continues, a bit more waspish.]

I was hit several times with fists, one flesh, one metal. I couldn't affect the metal one. I don't remember if he hit me anywhere else.

[ Charles makes a choked sound. ]

[metal fist. He only knows one person who fits that descriptor, but - he can ask about that later. He nears one of the cots and lets go of Erik first, wanting to get him off his feet before he handles the patient in his arm]

Okay. Here - [he reaches over for some gauze practically shoves it in Erik's free hand] Put pressure on it.

[With a sharp huff, Erik takes the gauze and presses it to his head. It makes him hiss and stars burst behind his eyelids, but it's manageable. He does have to put his right hand over the left side of his forehead.

A convenient excuse to stop talking, if your hand is on top of your mouth.]

[with Raven arriving it means he can pass Charles off to her for now, that way he can focus on Erik and making sure there isn't any unseen damage. One at a time, and if anything else was wrong he knows Raven would speak up immediately.

He crouches down in front of him and reaches up to move his hand away so he can see the extent of the damage, then takes the gauze so he can clean it up a bit himself]

Remember the questions I asked you the other day? [how much forced calm can he manage? Let's find out] We're going through them again unless you can answer them without me prompting.

[It's a moderate-sized gaze, cutting across his forehead from above his eyebrow to somewhere short of the middle. Winter's fist had struck a glancing blow there, after he'd deflected the bulk of it with his arm. Metal plates don't agree with skin. He squints a bit at Hank as the other man moves his hand away.]

From when I was hallucinating.

[that it even hit Erik at all surprises him, but that's a question he files away for later, once they're both in one piece again and he can figure out what exactly happened. He briefly gets up one more time to drag everything he'll need to the edge of the nearest counter before he's back]

Right. Focus on me. [he dabs away some of the blood to see if it'll need stitches or not, but he pauses to watch Erik closely] I don't know how hard he hit you, but you'd know by now if it was a concussion, I think.

[He does, though it's somewhat difficult. Erik's aware of the signs of concussion, so he says this.] My eyes keep blurring. And I have a headache.

[He nearly blacked out after he'd thrown Winter through the floor and wasn't in danger anymore. The pain tolerance he's built through his life kept him from doing so.]

[welp. Hank doesn't say anything for a moment, but then he's reaching for more of the gauze and something else to clean the wound]

Okay. [that was enough, at least, and later, once they were all able to rest, he could do any further scans] Keep talking to me, Erik. Who did we listen to after that terrible song you found?

[it's a ridiculous topic, but it'll keep him focused, and focused on something that isn't what just happened.

And not on how cleaning that cut is going to sting]

[Hank better keep his beeping scanning shit away from Erik, if he knows what's good for him. He groans, trying to cast his mind back. What was it? They'd been talking while Erik was seeing things, which made it harder to recall...]

Queen. Some rhapsody song about a killer. [He knows what's hip with the youth.]

[that actually makes him crack a smile, and he faintly shakes his head as he reaches up to start cleaning the cut]

Who was he singing to?

His mother.

[Erik doesn't wince as Hank gets to work. He's already compartmentalising the pain as best he can. Something else bothers him, though.]

You're not going to ask?

Not yet. You came to me because I'm a doctor, so let's handle that first.

[because he knows if he asks for any sort of details, he's going to get angry. He already knows enough to know that Winter's involved, and that's fine with him for now]

[Fine, fine... Erik shifts his left arm again, wincing.]

I felt something crack when he hit my arm.

Stop moving that. [it comes out mildly, and he finishes bandaging the cut on Erik's forehead before turning his attention to his arm. He makes a face]

Let me . . . get you some painkillers, and after they kick in we'll look at it. [he glances back up to Erik] Are you going to give me trouble if I use the equipment? Or are we doing this the old-fashioned way?

[Hank just gets a scowl in answer. It wasn't intentional.]

What exactly are you planning to use? [Better to know, so he can answer properly.]

X-Ray. [the scowl doesn't phase him. He pushes to his feet to go get the painkillers though, talking over his shoulder] If it's broken, it has to be done so I can see how it's broken to set it properly.

Fine. [Short and to the point.]

[when returns he takes Erik's hand and deposits a couple of pills into it, then holds up some water] Take those.

. . . I promise, no equipment if I can avoid it.

[Pills, ugh. Erik gives them a distasteful look before throwing them into his mouth, and following them with water. At least he has his own personal stash back on the Heron, whenever he gets back there... the thought gives him pause. Where is Winter now?]

Well, you're hardly going to get near me with most implements if I don't want you to.

[Hank just looks unimpressed. As per the norm, when they're bickering with each other about things that aren't mutations]

If I want to get near you with something, Erik, I have my ways. [it isn't a threat, just a statement to be contrary] Let me know when those kick in.
